I made a big mistake on the Brainstorming board last week and I must apologize for this error.  It seems I placed the wrong name with the message regarding the Letterman surname.  Instead of Janice it should have been olemacpoorgirl.  How careless of me - I'll take my 10 lashes with a wet noodle any time.  I am truly sorry for this boo-boo and for any inconvenience it has caused.  With that said we move on to the next in line - and that would be ....Janice!  Here is the message that Janice posted on 9/13/02.

hello,

I am searching for my grgrandmother Sarah Jane Edwards I believe she is from Illinois. She married my grgrandfather William W Powers. I am such a brick wall that I am ready to give up looking. Any help would be appreciated.

thank you
Janice L Bush
There are already a couple of replies to Janice's message, but maybe the team can find some additional information for her.

Janice;

The following are those Sarah Edwards inthe 1880 Census for IL that were
young enough to conceivably have a baby in 1898. It would help a lot if
you could provide more detail such as your grandparent's name, DOB, POB,

1890 was destroyed, except for a few.

lodeee;

Most of the 1890 Census was destroyed by fire. The 1870 is alive and
well. Cheers, Wayne

Hi Folks;

In my new capacity in re the brainstorming initiative, I'm invoking Janie's 3-day rule in the event we don't hear back from Janice by tomorrow morning. I notice that we haven't found as much as we usually do, I suspect that's because there wasn't a lot of seed data to go on.

I will send a note to Janice's personal email address telling her that there have been some responses and then go on to post our next brickwall. However, I'm adding a new twist, if I don't hear back from our next brickwaller w/in 24 hours I'll send him/her an email to determine whether there is still interest. If I don't receive an answer we'll give it 3 full days (Sunday morning) and go on to the next one. If later we hear from the poster and (s)he still wants assistance we can float his/her request to the top of the list.

Hopefully, this practice will: 1) reduce the time we spend on brickwalls that are no longer being monitored by those who posted them; 2) speed up the rate at which we deal with the brickwalls; and 3) weed out those who no longer want or need our assistance.

Please note that there is absolutely no malice in this decision, I'm just trying to do this as efficiently and effectively as possible. We have a good thing going here--more and more of our members are getting involved in responding to the brickwalls and, hopefully, all of us are benefiting from the effort.

Cheers, and lets keep breaking down those brickwalls folks!, Wayne
