I am having a terrible time finding any information on My Maternal GGG Grandfather's brother Taylor Heady. I will give you all the information that I know and see what we can come up with..its driving me crazy! lol Taylor Heady Son of Andrew Jackson Heady and Mary Ann Jones Heady..(Mary's Parents are Leonard and Orlevia May Jones). Taylor was born August 9, 1849 Spencer County Indiana, and I have that he died October 2, 1894 although that information is not mine and I have no proof of documentation on the death date. I know that Taylor Lived in Tower Hill Illinois with his mother and brother (My GGG Grandfather Winfield Scott Heady). and sisters. I know that Taylor enlisted into the Civil War at Mattoon Illinois Company G 143RD Infantry. I also have seen where his mother applied for his pention..although I have no proof of death I can not understand any other reason that she would be getting his pention. I can not find anything more on him...I have a cousin who said once that he was married and raised a family..although he did not give me the information told me he would at a later date and we have lost contact. Any information that I could gather other than the information I already know would be sooooooooooooooo appriciated! I really have a dead end here...Thanks..Criss |

It appears that Taylor's mother, Mary, started receiving pension sometime after May 7, 1869, the date of the application. Name: | | Taylor Heady , | Residence: | | Shelbyville, Illinois | Enlistment Date: | | 13 May 1864 | Distinguished Service: | | DISTINGUISHED SERVICE | Side Served: | | Union | State Served: | | Illinois | Unit Numbers: | | 323 323 In 1860, Taylor was only 14, meaning he was just 18 when he enlisted in 1864. Also, he would have been only 23 or so when he died. | |

If you order the Civil War Records from the State of Illinois Archives, they may tell you his status when leaving the military. If you live in Illinois, they are free. If not, there is a fee. |

You might also contact the Shelby County Genealogy Society who may have records to help you. That 1894 could be 1864. |
