I find a Nathan Anthony in 1860 Livingston County.  He was born in New York
Young people in the household were:
Margaret 16 Ohio (appears to have married William Lundy)
James 15 Ohio
Mary 12 Ohio, appears to have married Warren Filbury
Lorenzo 10 Ohio, appears to have married Elizabeth Richardson
Ruth 7 Ohio, appears to have married William Kingsley
Harriet 5 Illinois
Lucretia 4 Illinois, appears to have married I. Bowen

Nearby the household of James Gibson, Justice of the Peace, is Christina Anthony, 13, born in Ohio appears to have married Henry Weatherwax

I found Nathan in 1850 Portland, Erie Co. Ohio.  Louisa is listed as 3 years older than Margaret.  Two year old Christina is living next door with the Jefferson family.  The wife of Nathan Rowana.  There is also a son, William, and an older, Nathan Anthony, born 1779.

In 1880 Rowena is in the household of Nathan Anthony.  With them are Ida, age 14 and George, age 19.

Most interesting is another person in the household, 53 year old James Larner born in Ohio.  He is shown as Nathan's brother-in-law, giving you a last name for Rowena.

He could be James Larmer rather than Larner.

I finally found a family member after 1870.

Ida and John/Josephus Heckman are living in Streator, LaSalle County in 1900. Children are Ray, George, Willie and Zelma.

In 1920 the couple is in Peoria county, IL. They added a daughter, Pearl born about 1906. Looks like Zelma may have died in 1923

HECKMAN ZELMA V F/W UNK 0720378 1923-08-16 PEORIA LIMESTONE TWP 23-08-16, and her father in 1930:

HECKMAN JOSEPH C M/W UNK 2720066 1930-01-17 PEORIA PEORIA 30-01-21

It looks like Pearl married Ferdinand Bickerdt and moved to Detroit, Michigan as Ida is found living with them in 1930 and listed as Ferd’s mother-in-law. One son to this couple at that time, Edward, born about 3 ½ months prior in Michigan.

Tough folks to find anything about…suspect Weatherwax to be a Native American name…not sure. This could possibly be Christine Anthony Weatherwax‘s death.

Isaiah Bowen is found in 1870 Livingston County.  He was born in West Virginia to parents Willaim and Nancy.  Both of them were born in Pennsylvania.  People who appear to be siblings were Price, 26, and Millie, 20.  They too were born in West Virginia.  I would assume tht this Isaiah Bowen was the fellow who married Lucretia Anthony.  I have not found them in 1880.

Hi Rookyjo;

I found Louisa, her parents Nathan & Rowena, & 5 siblings, living in Erie Co., OH in 1850. Living next door were James P. & Ruth Jefferson along w/ 1 yr old daughter Mary, & 3 yr old Christina Anthony.

By 1860, they're living in Livingston Co., IL. Several doors down are the James & Mary Gibson family, which includes one Christian Anthony, 13, b. in OH--James is a J.P. from PA, Mary is from NY. Their older children are also b. in OH. Rowena and Louisa are not listed in the 1860 data for Nathan, et al.

By 1870, Rowena is back with Nathan, and they have several more children--all b. in IL. Of course, Louisa is living w/ husband Levi Phillips by then--they have 2 children, Leslie and Betsey. It appears that Levi's parents, John & Betsey Phillips, live just down the road from them.

In 1880, everybody is in place in Livingston Co. Nathan and Rowena's brother-in-law, James Larmer, a carpenter, is living with them. Levi & Louisa now have 5 children.

In 1895, Louisa has presumably died (I could find no death record), Levi has just remarried, to a Mrs. Louisa Ham(m) (her 3rd marriage and she has children of her own) in Grundy Co.

In 1897, Nathan's son Lewis/Louis m. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Ham(m) one of his step-sisters.

By 1900 both Nathan & Rowena appear to have died. I find no record in the death index--which probably means they were buried on their farm. Levi is living w/ his 2nd wife, on a farm in Bureau Co. Living with them are son Lewis/Louis Phillips, Lizzie Phillips (Levi's s-daughter/daughter-in-law), Mary Ham(m), Carl Ham(m); & a grandchild, Edith Phillips.

In 1910, Nathan, Louisa #2, & Mary Ham(m) still live on the farm in Bureau Co. According to the census Levi owns this farm--suggesting that Louisa #2 was a propertied widow when he married her.

By 1920, Levi is again widowed & back in Livingston Co.--at the Livingston Co. Home & Hospital #68.

In 1921, Levi dies in Livingston Co.

Hope this answers some of your questions.
Cheers, Wayne

Hi Again Rookyjo;

My apologies if I confused you. Your initial query appeared in the digest I received and I mistakenly assumed that Mel hadn't responded yet. When I later looked up your query on site I realized that I was day-late and a dollar-short.

I should have known that Mel would be on top of this. Oh well, you got a rerun. It was fun doing the research anyway.

Cheers, Wayne
