John lived and died in Illinois. Born 1860 in Mo. The 1920 census in Ill. has his father born in Indiana and his mother born in Kentucky. His wife's name was Nina May Kile. He is buried in Millerberg, Ill. Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, and thanks for joining us,

I did not find any Millerberg/Millerburg in Illinois, so I am assuming that the town name is Millersberg.  This would be Mercer County.

I found no John McCulley dying in Mercer Co. between 1916 and 1950.  There was one who died in Will Co.

MCCULLEY      JOHN       E             M/W  UNK  0036481 1945-09-27 WILL        JOLIET

If this is the date of death of your John, ordering the above record would give you names of parents and other information, if known by the informant.

Since the marriage was after 1878, the record should show the names of parents, if known.

I see a William McCulley also in Mercer County.  It might help to keep him in mind when doing your research.

A Margaret and Isaac McCully of Polk County, Missouri Had a 7 year old John F McCulley in the 1870 census.  This would agree with the 1900 census.

Other children were Missouri, Elizah J, and Amanda,  Margaret was shown born in Tennessee.

Request a Marriage Record from a County Clerk
County clerks are the official custodians of all marriage records recorded in Illinois counties. To obtain copies of marriages found in the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, write the appropriate county clerk and include in your letter all of the information on the marriage given in the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index
Only county clerks may issue certified copies of marriage records. Search and copy fees will vary from one county to another

In 1880 Mercer Co., John is living with the Kile women.  He said both his parents were born in Missouri, as well as himself.

The William McCulley that I suggest keeping an eye on is also in the 1880 census.  He said he was born in Kentucky, as well as both his parents.

There is a John W McCully in the 1870 Macon County, Missouri census. He is in the household of Adam McCulley.  Adam was born in Indiana, about 1818.  There is a 36 year old woman keeping house by the name of Matilda J. McCully, assuming this is a wife.  She was born in Illinois.  The age difference could indicate a second marriage for Adam.

16 year old James is also in the household.  He was born in Indiana.

The next entry is Nancy McCully born 1802 Kentucky.

Thank you for all the information. I do have most of this, and that is why it is so hard to find John's parents because the information is not the same on all of the census records. Most do list John's parents as father b. Indiana and mother b. Kentucky. I too have not been able to find death certificate for John, but he and Nina are buried in Millersburg in Oakridge cemetery beside her parents Abraham and Lydia Kile. Lydia was a Lutz, sister of Oscar, son of Issac Lutz. Funny how I can find out so much about Nina, but very little about John. I do know he was born in MO. as my father told me that much and that we had relation there. He (Robert G. McCulley, son of Glenn Clyde) told me before he passed that he thought he had 2 old maid aunts around St. Joseph, MO.  I will try to write and see if I can get the records or I may go to the courthouse in Aledo when I visit my sister this fall. Thank You again.

You might want to take a good look at Alexander McCalley found in 1850 Lawrence Co., Indiana. Alexander Adam? Perhaps?.

Also found in Lawrence Co. is a James McCally, also born in Kentucky.  They are the only Mccalleys/Mccally's born in Kentucky and living in Indiana that came up in my search.

I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time following this posting?  The origanal said that John(no surname) lived in such and such an area and married so and so.  How do you come up with all this info?

I guess I need to look a little higher to the subject line,  or as they say look with your eyes open. Sorry!
