Here is the time line for one of my lines... Questions that need answers are at the bottom:

Leah Bennett
Jan 1840-- born in Brush Creek, Highland, Ohio
1850-- living with parents (James and Mary Stumbo Bennett) in Brush Creek, Highland, Ohio
20 Feb 1859- mrd. Christopher Orendorff in Logan County, Ohio
Feb 1860- 1st child Joseph Clifford Orendorff born
Jul 1860- listed in Sugar Creek, Logan, Illinois with husband, Christopher, age 24, and son, Jos 4/12
Dec 1863- 2nd child, George Robert Orendorff, born in Logan County, Illinois
18 Mar 1866- marries William A. Martin in Logan County, Illinois
30 Jun 1870- Wm (age 25 b. OH), Leah (age 29, b. OH), George (age 8, b. IL), Dema (age 3, b. IL), and Joseph (age 11, b. IL) living in Eminence, Logan, IL)
16 Jun 1880-- Lea Martin (age 35, OH), George Orendorff (age 17, b. IL), Lodemia Martin (age 14, IL) and Eleamor (age 9, IL) living in Montezuma, Pike, Illinois00 Leah is widowed
--- REST OF LEAH BENNETT/ORENDORFF/MARTIN/DARNEY IS COVERED--

Christopher was born around 1833 in Sangamon County, Illinois.  He was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Stevens) Orendorff.  The area were he was born was later Logan County, Illinois.

Questions I Have:
1. When did Christopher Orendorff die?
2. Where is Christopher buried?
3. Who are the parents of William A. Martin?
4. Where in OH was he born?
5. When did William die?
6. Where did William die?

Some answers:
1. I know that Christopher obviously died before 1866 in Logan County, Illinois.
2. There is a chance that a stone is not in the cemetery and there is no death cert.
3. I have had no luck finding Wm in the 1850 census... Maybe I am just missing him
4. Maybe if I could find the 1850 census I could find the father in the 1840 census to get a better idea of where birth occurred
5. William died between 1870 and 1880--- he was in the 1870 census, but not in the 1880
6. This could be in Logan or Pike County... Not sure if the family moved to Pike before or after William's death...

Any help on finding the answers to the above questions would be greatly appreciated!

Juls :)

Checking out the 1860 Logan Co., Census, the Beeslys (Beezley) were also from Ohio.  They lived at Sugar Creek.

It appears that this John Martin was a brother to Montgomery.  They were living with Hiram Martin in 1860 Logan County.  Hiram was shown as Ira Martin in 1850 Darke Co., Ohio.

1880 Pawnee Nebraska

Wesley J. Martin, and wife Aurora are there with 4 children born in Illinois.  There is also a Eugene Martin, brother in law, age 23.

Aurora and both her parents were born in Ohio.  I suspect cousins marrying.

There is a William Martin in Darke County, Ohio in the household of Robert Martin.  Of the 9 children in the household, 7 of them are females.  William is 19 in that 1860 census.

In 1860 William and Mary and several of their children are still in Darke County, Ohio. Between John L. Martin, age 22, and Pass Martin (Ross) age 16, is a Wm. Martin, age 8.  It appears that the 1 is missing and he should be 18.  The ages descend as they should, otherwise.

You may be interested in knowing that the William Martin found in Darke County, Ohio, son of William and Mary, had a relative in the family by the name of Lodemia born 1858.  She appears to be his sister.
