I am looking for the WW2 monument in Jacksonville Illinois. My Mom and Dad saw it approx. 30 years ago. My Mom thought it was on the square, downtown, the monument I found on October 26, 2007 was the civil war monument.
I am looking for information on Glenn Hammond, my Grandfather. His name is on this monument and I would like a picture of it. I am also seeking any information I can find on him.
Two years ago I phoned the chamber of commerce in J'ville and ask about this monument and they acted like they had never heard of it. I also phoned the J'ville American Legion, they had no knowledge of the monument. I also ask them if they had a list of the local men who served in WW2, they did not.
Any information you may have would be appreicated. Thank-you! :-)

"....NEW BUSINESS:....
Alderman Daniels stated his thanks to Mayor Tendick and the City of Jacksonville
for the World War II monument recently placed in Community Park.

ADJOURNMENT:
With no other business to be conducted, Mayor Tendick called for a motion to adjourn.
A motion was made by Baldwin (seconded by Bradshaw) to adjourn at 8:00 p.m.

Prairiehouse,
We live near Jacksonville and My husband said that the WW2 monument is in Community Park... which was  the property of Jacksonville Developemental Center.  I will be that way tomorrow and I can stop by and get some pictures for you if you would like me to.
The Monument on the square or known as the Plaza  is the Civil War monument..
Vicki
