I am looking for information about my aunt Velma Bowers Tipps. She was born in Cowan, Franklin County, Tn. Married George W. Tipps they moved to Crystal Lake, Ill. about 1922. She was living there when she died, probably sometime around 1944.
Appreciate any help.

This is great. Thanks so much. I went to the website. How can you view the collections. One of the grand daughter's had the old Bowers Family bible and I have been looking for some way to find this information. I can not find the surname of my grandmother. I know her given name was Susan married to Adolphus Bowers and the information is in that bible. Adolphus was Velma Bowers Tipps father. My dad was Roy Houston Bowers, Velma's little brother. At least I have a place to look.
Thanks again,
Connie Bowers McDonald

It looks to me that Velma's father, Adolphus was the son of Adolphus and Susan Bowers.  You may have missed a generation.  Her mother appears to be Nannie.

I did her father's name was Adolphus Worth Bowers. My grandmother's name was Nancy Scivally (I have found it spelled different ways) she was called Nannie. Abramham and Susan were the parents of Adolphus (sometimes in census A. W., or Duffus).
I get ahead of myself sometimes.
