Hello: Would some kind soul help me with these 2?
First one is in East Batavia Cem. There is one central stone 4 names on it.
It is the grave of my GGUncle William Sturges, and his 3 wives.
Could you take picture and/or send me the dates?
The second one is for Plato Center. There are several relatives there. But not sure of who all. I do know that Maggie M Eaton nee Sturgis/Sturges is there. I do have her date of death as June 25th, 1947. She is my GGAunt. Daughter of my GGGrandfather. I would appreciate a pictrue. Maybe her husband is there and some of her children.
I am wondering if some of my missing relatives could be there.
Any names of: Allen & Sturges/Sturgis/Sturgess.
I am desperatedly trying to find these names: Sarah Allen. My GGGrandmother.
We know that she died sometime before the 1870 or 1880 census. My GGGrandfather Samuel Allen (which there seem's to be alot of). He would of been born sometime in the 1820's England. I would love to find out where they are buried, and when they died so I can send off for their death certs. Hoping to find out my GGGrandmother's maiden name.
Any and all help will be great appreciated.
Thank you.
Kind reguards,
Martha in CA.

Martha - do you know what county this cemetery is in?  This might help to get someone in that area to do the lookups for you.

Hi Janie: I know East Batavia Cemetery is in Batavia, IL. Bluff Cemetery told me it was just south of them. I don't know more than this, as I was born, raisied and am living in CA.
My Grandmother and all her family were born in IL. Hence my problem.
And with facing many multiple back and neck surgerie's makes it impossible for me to travel
far at this time. Where Plato Center is? I don't know. But I would guess by Elgin or Aurora.
I am still looking for more of my realatives. Just don't know where everyone is yet.
Kind reguards,
Martha

Martha,  Are you still seeking this information and pictures?  I live in Aurora which is 6 miles from Batavia and Plato Center is about 15 miles away.  I would be glad to seek out the gravesites and take pictures if you wish.  I haven't been on the site much and that is why I just discovered your message.  JohnnyL(the L must mean lately)

Dear Johnny: Yes please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sure would appreciate this greatly !!! Would you also look for a fourth grave, that of their child??? If you have a digital camera, then you could just email them to me @ [email protected]
I would also love to have an obit on them, IF one could be found, and IF you have the time?
IF not, just the pictures would be fine. !!!
Thanks a million,
Martha in CA

Hello Group: Well I have some updates as far as Samuel Allen, he died in 1881. No exact date, nor place. Found this is GrGrGrandpa's civil war records.
Sarah Allen died between 1865 and 1870. As she was in the 1860 census (DeKalb) and in the 1865 head count census, as someone stated to me. Is there a 1865 census on line some where for DeKalb that I can look at? The kind soul who found this for me stated there was a male (older) living with them. Who this is intrigues me.
I am wondering if someone has the surname guide to Kane Co., and can look up where these two could be buried. I would greatly appreciate this.
Also on the East Batavia Cemetery, I have come to find out that there are OTHER Sturges there, (my family once again) as well as my Bird family members. Wondering if someone can take some head stone pics?
I just got in the death certs on two other family members. Both of these are my GrGrAunts.
Maggie May Eaton (nee Sturgis) d: June 25, 1947 and is buried in Plato Cemetery. Her husband and some of their children should be buried there too.
Next is Susie (Sturgis) Richmond d: March 18, 1920 and is buried in Garfiled Ceme. Wasco, IL. Sorry I do not know where any of these places are as I live in CA.
Also several months ago someone from this list, stated they went to Lily Lake Cemetery and took some pics, and were looking for other family members for me. They asked me to be patient and waite as they had several things going on, and would take them time to email them to me. I still have not heard a word.
I sure do appreciate everyones help. This family of mine, was very large and married into other lines, both in England and in the US. As I have been searching for them, I have found that those that married in England, eventually came to IL as well, with the families.
Here are just a few of the surnames: Sturgis , Sturges, Allen, Tinsley, Bend, Arnold, Bird,
Richmond, Eaton, Willett, Coon, Clapsaddle and so very many more.
So this is a huge work in process for me.
Kind reguards to all. And if anyone needs help from where I am at in the Centeral Valley of CA, please let me know.
Martha

Martha,  I can probably check this out next week.  Plato Center, Wasco and Lily Lake are all in about a 5 mile radius, Batavia is about 10 miles away,  but all are practically in my backyard. I do have a digital camera so I'll shot some pictures and send them to you.  John

Martha,  You might want to try the following website: cyberdriveillinois and then go to statewide marriage index.  I found info on that site about Mary Sturgis  married to Samuel Allen on 12/15/1878 in Kane County plus info on Susie Sturgis married Ernest Richmond on 2/15/1893 and I'm sure there is more information.  I'm  a real amatuer at this stuff so if you run into problems just post-it and the real sleuths will go to work for you.

Martha,
I never heard back from you on the other pictures from Lily Lake Cemetery.   I e-mailed 3 times and got no response.   I was looking for you because I passed East Batavia Cemetery on the way to doc's yesterday.  And was going to see if you still needed information from there.  But I just read where Johnny was going to do it.  If you still want those other pictures let me know.  I will need your mailing address again Martha.
Bonnie
