If anyone is interested in finding Land Grants granted to our ancestors go to "http://www.glorecords.blm.gov" It's only on the land opened up for homesteaders. It doesn't include the original 13 states or the land bought from another person. . After you find the record, click on Document Image, then PDF or one of the other formats will allow you to view and print a copy of the original document he received when he purchased the land. Most of the time it will state where they came from or is living then. Then click on Legal Land Description and then printer friendly will give you the information on acres bought, date and place of purchase and land description. .
You can also send for a certified copy of the file for about $37. They had 5 years to clear the land for farming and then they had to record all the buildings they built, how much land was cultivated, what kind of crops was grown, if they went on any trip they had to record where they went and how long they were away.
Go to the Basic folder to check a name at one State at a time. Go to the Standard folder to check for a person on all the states and Put the name in under the Patentee for the people who bought their land and put the name under Warrantee for the people who was awarded the land for military service in a war.
Happy hunting, Denny

( Note--on some of the names you are searching , when you click on "DOCUMENT IMAGE" you will get the following --

Patent Description Legal Land Description Document Image Certified Copy

Note: This record has not been checked against the Legal Land Patent. We don't have an electronic image for this document.
No Images Available.
Our system does not have an image for this land patent. Images will be added when this record is indexed and verified against the land patent itself. Check the Certified Copy tab for information on ordering a copy of the patent.
