It bothers me that all the toys were made in China but that’s just a sign of the time.

It is my opinion that Fisher Price has crossed the line with it’s latest and biggest seller,
the “Cuddle & Coo?doll.
Nowhere on the package does it indicate that the cute little doll is going to repeatedly broadcast,

“Islam is the Light?in clearly spoken English among its otherwise typical baby gibberish.

Listen for yourself in the linked videos. Change is coming and it ain’t going to be pretty. Fisher Price will hear from me about this.

This is false. A description of this hoax is given at snopes.com. The only word scripted into the doll is "mama".

Although the baby sounds did sound like "Islam is the light" after I knew what I was listening for (and many people say that's what it says), I question why someone in China, probably a believer in Buddism, would do it.  I never heard anything remotely like "Satan is the king."  It reminds me of the Proctor and Gamble satanic symbols several years ago.

Well, I talked before checking; shame on me.

There are perhaps as many as 15 million Muslims in China today, of whom over seven million are Hui. Politically, Islam is important both because China seeks good relations with Muslim countries and because the non-Hui Muslims live in strategically sensitive border areas.

Almost all Chinese Muslims are Sunni, but there has been considerable influence by Sufi brotherhoods in the past 200 years. Historically there has been little persecution of Islam. But there have been serious 'Muslim' rebellions in the North-West in the last century which were responsible for untold loss of life, though the issues at stake were national autonomy rather than religion.

Yes, I snoped it out first.  But it says something other than "Mama" and babble as Snopes suggested.  It take three times before whatever it says comes out, and the tone of the voice changes as well.  I'm not saying it is saying "Islam is the light," all I'm saying is that these companies should listen to their toys before putting them on the market and experiencing negative publicity.  It certainly has made many people unhappy.

I am sorry to be so ignorant but I do not understand what this has to do with the web site concerning genealogy and the kinfolk Konnection.  Would you please explain.  Thanks, Kat

Hello,

This discussion has nothing to do with genealogy, which is the case with many of our messages.  Oftentimes, when the board is slow, someone throws something out just to keep our site active.  Ditto on commenting.  It may incite someone to post something relevant.

We are a tight knit group who have met at IKK with many of us establishing relationships outside of the site.  One reason we get along so beautifully is because of our relaxed message boards.  It has been this way since it has started.  I am a charter member, nothing more, but know that if it was not this way, we would not be able to benefit from Jim's wisdoms, or other messages important to some of us.  Jim is often the one keeping IKK alive.

Perhaps to avoid having a string of irrelevant messages, we can get busy and think of appropriate messages.

Melody
