Happy Holidays to you too, Masugu! I've made this message board for you and anyone else who would like to be a part of the IKK brainstorming project to use for organizing your paid subscriptions. I'm taking you up on your offer to handle this board. If this doesn't work out quite the way you want, let me know and we'll try to come up with something else. I'll also work on making a list as you requested. Thanks for all your help here - management really does appreciate all the wonderful people who are pitching in to help with the project. |

Thanks Janie;
I'll post my subscriptions with critique sometime w/in the next week. Then
I'll give it 2 weeks for folks to post. After that I'll follow the plan of
action I laid out earlier.
In re the new brickwall list--looks good! I assume that we'll continue to
attack the previously posted brickwalls first, then eliminate that list and
move on to the new one? Also, for those cases, like Gordon's, where we got
lots of hits but none relevant, will we go back and try again? The resources
on Roots, Ancestry, Genealogy, et al. are constantly growing so we might
get more hits later.
BTW: I'm finding a lot more on-line resources available for my wife's
family in MD than I'm finding for mine in IL. In addition, in a conversation
with the owner of Willow Bend Genealogical Publishers and Book Store (www.willowbend.net),
I was told that the reason he had so few books on IL is that there are very
few available that he can sell. For those of you who have copious libraries,
you might want to help him out with some suggested readings (Yuk! Yuk!).
Seriously, it'd be a service. He too is from IL and complains bitterly about
the paucity of IL resources.
Happy Holidays, Masugu

I think we're finally on the same wavelength, Masugu! You've read my thoughts exactly. We have new members coming in all the time and it's only fair that those who posted months ago should get their turn. I see no reason why you can't continue with lookups for those who had lots of hits but nothing concrete - unless of course they do not respond to any of the posts. And posting to more recent queries as you come across information doesn't hurt a thing, either. As for the brick walls list - if you can think of any other columns that need to be added, let me know. It's not a problem to do that. Thanks again for taking the lead on this - GOOOOOO TEAM!! |

I know that I'm not the one that this message was originally to, but concerning "adding new columns to the brickwall list", when I added my brickwall to that list I wanted specific info about my ancestor Mathew Morris.....namely his burial place. There was no column for "specific info wanted", though I did include my needs in another column. I have a lot of info on this person, though I realize a person never really has it all, but I didn't want to trouble the one(s) doing brickwall research on my behalf by having them blindly researching & sending info I already have. So, at least in my case (this time), a "Specify Info Wanted" column would have been useful, especially for the brickwall researcher that chooses to help me. If a submitter wants any & all info they could express just that, "Any & All". Hope this makes sense, Donna in the Land of Oz, USA |

Ask and ye shall receive, Donna! I put the new column in that you suggested. You may now go in and edit your information (be sure to click on EDIT). Thanks for the feedback on this. Anyone else have a suggestion that might help to make this project run more smoothly? |
