June 14th, 2005 Color of the day: Black Incense of the day: Poplar
Today is the birthday of the Muses, the Greek goddesses who gave us creativity. Born of the Greek goddess Mnemosyne (memory), they are Calliope (epic song), Clio (history), Euterpe (lyric song), Thalia (comedy), Melpomene (tragedy), Terpsichore (dance), Erato (erotic poetry), Urania (astronomy), and Polyhymnia (sacred hymn). For more creativity in your life, invoke them with this spell. On your altar, light a white candle for Mnemosyne, and nine candles of different colors for the Muses. Include an object or picture representing each, such as a dance slipper for Terpsichore, and so on. Then say:
Muses of old, Now hear my plea. Reach deep inside and set me free. As I come to you, come to me: Bless me with creativity.
Meditate on the Muses for a while, then blow out the candles. Go attend a poetry reading, a play, or a dance performance. Honor the arts, and the Muses will send inspiration in return.
