Basic Facts

Clear quartz crystals are composed of basic elements:  silica dioxide, of which the three atoms  are arranged in trigonal formation, subclassified into hexagonal, 6-sided formations.  They have a specific gravity of 2.66, a hardness of 7, and a refractive index of 1.55.  They're doubly refractive and show distinct dichroism.  They present different colors, or rainbows, when viewed in different directions.  Some call them "crystallized light". 

A quartz crystal's polarity will change when its base is either subjected to pressure or heat, even when held in one's hand.  The tip, normally positive and receiving energy, will then change and become negative, thus discharging energy which will radiate from its tip.

The presence of additional elements, (manganese, sodium, or peroxide of iron) creates coloration in the quartz crystal.  For example, the presence of manganese produces the amethyst.  While additional amounts of iron content varies the purple coloration.  Sodium is said to cause the smoky quartz.

Many smoky quartz crystals have been irradiated, causing them to turn dark black.  This is a speeding up process, for nature naturally irradiates many of the crystals over a period of time.  Amethyst heated to 400 degrees turns clear.  Heated to 550 degrees, it turns to citrine, although there is also natural citrine.

Crystals have a great propensity to bend light at a 60 degree angle; this is why they can be used in triangular formation to best advantage, or in multiples of three.

A single quartz crystal, carried on the person or placed in your living quarters will help maintain balance or a certain energy level, and offers a degree of protection. 

A smoky quartz will set up a powerful forcefield which will absorb many forms of negativity.  Black tourmaline repels negativity.

Crystals will produce a forcefield of healing negative ions while clearing the atmosphere around them of positive ions.  They tend to cancel the harmful effects of radiation and radioactivity.

One with a fever can experience a quick restoration of normal temperature by holding a crystal in the right hand at arms length, pointing away from the body.  The crystal seems to draw away the excess body heat.

Crystals begin to work with you and within your environment as soon as you have come into contact with them, and have cleansed them.  To make a crystal "yours" simply hold it.  It will immediately begin transmuting and uplifting your energy level.  Crystals can offer protection.  Used consistently in daily meditation, they help attune, allowing you greater depth, aiding in achieving alignment.

Whether you carry your crystal or leave it home, its energy radiance is still affecting you for in reality, there is only one energy vibration. 

Crystalology is one of the sciences of the future.  Atlanteans were able to power cities with crystals.  They had immense healing temples where a great number of people went daily to receive free healings.  They were treated with crystal energies which these priceless miracles of crystal, unlike any other instruments, devices, or appliances were able to channel.

With the continual destruction of many tons of crystals each year for the electronics industry, the value of crystals, in direct proportion to the demand and level of supply, will continue to increase, making them a good investment.  Their popularity, especially that of amethyst, will increase as more people catch on to their "power".

 

Q & A About Quartz Crystals

Q.)  Should I buy crystals which are completely clear and avoid those which are cloudy or have internal fractures?

A.)  Perfectly clear quartz crystals, "optical quartz", is very expensive, sometimes cost prohibitive.  It's excellent for all healing purposes but this should by no means discount the use of cloudy crystals.  Many with internal fractures have certain prismatic effects which produce powerful rainbows within the crystal, thus giving added energy lacking in a pristine, "crystal clear" specimen.

Q.)  Is it true that only those crystals that are given to you will be useful as healing crystals?

A.)  It is true only if you believe it so.  You will be directed by your own inner guidance to those crystals which are best suited you.  Do not let a purchase price stand in the way of your using this valuable tool.

Q.)  What are Austrian Lead Crystals and are they of value in healing or meditation?

A.)  Austrian Lead Crystals are in fact, manmade glass.  They are extremely decorative but they have no value concerning healing or meditation purposes.

Q.)  What size crystals are best for healing and meditation?

A.)  Crystals of similar size and shape are best when working with one or more for a specific purpose.  Three is a good number to start with in utilizing the triangle method for meditation.  It's also useful to have a smoky quartz and/or an amethyst.  This comprises a basic "beginner set".

The larger the crystal the more potent will be the resulting magnetic field that is produced, and subsequently the greater the inflow of energy.  However, certain small points may very well be just as or more potent than their larger brothers.  Thus both can be used as generators.

Q.)  Should new crystals be placed in sun-dried seasalt?

A.)  Though many books tell you this, seasalt is actually foreign material to the crystals.  It's best to clean them, removing extraneous vibrations by placing them in the direct sunlight for 2 hours and simply washing them under clear, cold, running water.

Charging crystals is also done simply by placing them in direct sunlight.  Place your crystals outdoors, in an unimpeded sun, on a white sheet (or a copper tray if possible) to achieve maximum results.  The two hours surrounding noon is the peak energy time (11am to 1pm).

Q.)  Is it possible to achieve benefit from using only one crystal?

A.)  Yes, the basic techniques for healing used by North American Indians requires only one clear quartz crystal.
