oh man I have to actually go to the mall today.  I got an email from Piercing Pagoda with 50% off one thing.  Since I heard they are going out of business and that is where I get my charms for my friend's daughter, I HAVE to go.  I buy her a charm every year for her birthday.  She'll be 13 this February so only a few more until I can get her the bracelet - either for her 16th or 18th or graduation, I haven't decided yet.  I started this when she was born.  I'd hate to be wandering around in February trying to find a place that sells gold charms for an affordable price so I need to go today!

I decided last night I probably won't do much more cleaning until Monday.  No point in cleaning things that will just get messed up again.  I'm glad I did the kitchen since it was a lot of underneath stuff that will stay mostly clean but no point in anymore dusting or vacuuming.  My house gets so dusty so quickly.  I may do some oiling of the dining room furniture now and clean our bathroom which is full of gifts and rarely used anyway.  Otherwise I'm concentrating on wrapping, finishing the fudge, finishing any decorating, and shopping/errands (grocery or otherwise).

Do not know why I'm up so early but I think I'm going to go tackle something right away before I get tired again!

You're doing so well!

We spent 2-6ish, out running errands and I don't even feel like we were all that successful since we spent a butt-load at Home Depot (we had our sliders without any coverings so I was going to move the matching curtains from the dr to there and get new curtains for the dr. Well, $47/panel!!! are the ones dh picked out. augh They are nice but geez louise. We also bought 3 new lights... one for the upstairs bathroom, one for the dining room and one for the front hall. All lights we wanted to change (the up. bathroom one really needed to be changed) but geez, that added up.) Then, ate out at the mall which was our lupper... too late to be lunch, too early to be supper. So, that's kinda good but there goes another good supper plan I had for tonight, down the drain! I have thawed ground beef I should cook up but I dont' want my house smelling like ground beef. How dumb is that?! The grocery store didn't have a few things that I needed so dh will have to go out tonight or tomorrow anyways. ARGH At least all our Christmas gifts are bought for tomorrow, just need to be wrapped. Hmm, we may need to buy a card reader thing if we can't find dh's so we can put our pictures from our camera onto the computer and then onto MIL's gift, a digital pic frame.

Ok, this is crunch time. I think I'm going to do the painting cause I really want to get that done and I'm so close to getting it done. Plus, I need to do as much as I can before the kids are in bed as the girls' room needs a little bit of touching up and my room needs a bit too.

Not sure if I'll be on here again... if I'm not, hopefully it's cause I'm working up a storm! lol

scott and chane love the fudge!  i actually prefer the one i messed up lol - i didn't put the final layer on so it's more caramel-ey adn less butterscotch-y.  i like the crunch in the middle. i  like them both a lot though.  i'm going to leave the top layer off the messed up one.  i was very full of cookies when we decided to sample it so i think i'll like it even better tomorrow.  i'm getting sick of sweet stuff right now.  i think i'd like to make a batch with no butterscotch.  i used to like butterscotch but now it's too strong for me and i don't know why.  i used to always put it in my choc chip cookies but now i don't.  in any case, the fudge is still very good!  thanks for recommending it!  scott can't stop eating it so i have to put it away...

I'm glad you like it! I actually couldn't taste the butterscotch chips in my first batch so I wonder how this batch will be! I have to cut it up.

I'm the only one up here and ready to go but I'm stressing out and have no clue where to start. I had to go to sleep around 10:30 last night. My back was so messed up and I just could not do anything. I'm thinking we have to prioritize now and focus on the rooms that will be used the most. While the painting jobs I've started look worse now, that is SO not something that HAS to be done.

Aw man, Timmy's awake.

It's still snowing out there so I'm still hoping no one shows because of the weather. lol But, I have a feeling I shouldn't count on that. And, we didn't get any wrapping done yesterday :(

Going to start cooking ground beef and work on picking up the kitchen, dr and lr.

I think I'll try to drill this morning:
-cook hamburg meat, put away
-get 2 graham cracker crusts in oven
-bring down canned food that's on lr table
-give breakfast to Timmy, give myself cereal
-cut up fudge, put on plate, ready to go and put rest in container
-finish off fudge topping for the other one
-wipe down lr table
-bring up mini-vac for couches
-bring in curtain rods and other canned food
-bring up duster

Ok, that's probably more than enough. But, I'm going to try to be done by 9!

didn't do all of 50 but did do everything else plus i think a couple of things i thought were on the list but weren't yet lol.

getting ready to go to my mom's to get the futon mattress and extra chairs.  then i'm going to go right out to the store so i probably won't be back 'til early afternoon.  before i come back i will:

  • get futon mattress
  • unload futon mattress
  • put futon mattress in c's room
  • put old futon mattress in garage or by curb
  • get chairs
  • unload chairs
  • put gas in malibu
  • grocery shop
  • put away groceries
  • tell kids to clean their rooms while i'm gone
  • clean up the front yard
  • move santa (w/scott's help)
  • ask scott about bonton check

hope to be done all that by 12 but that's iffy with scott still in the shower!

taking a break... I hate painting!! I decided I can't leave the stairs but now I'm not sure I like the green. lol  I'm so close to being done but to keep my sanity, I stop and do something small and then come back (plus to let it dry a bit before doing the edges.)

We're doing little things here and there but not much progress. augh Dh just came down and said we need to work on one room at a time. So, I'm going to go finish painting, shower and then we'll get moving.

Dh asked MIL about coming for Christmas Eve (and sleeping over.) She said she'll have to think about it (likely because she'd have to come to church!) so I'm hoping that's a no. Mean, yeah, but this year, I'm REALLY hoping to have a quiet Christmas Eve where I can just sit and watch a movie after the kids are in bed and go to bed at a decent hour myself. I guess we could still do that with MIL but it's not quite the same.

Better get moving, still so much to do!

sometimes it helps when i make a list that looks like this:

scott                  joni
our room           kitchen
kitchen              dining room
playroom           our room

etc

then we set the timer for 5 minutes and do whatever we want in that room.  i don't get on scott if he does something i wouldn't have done and vice versa because different things are important to us.  if a room's horrible, i put it on both of our lists and sometimes twice on both of our lists but no matter what we can't stay in the room more than 5 minutes and maybe 30 seconds after the timer goes off.

we usually get the whole house reasonable in 30-60 minutes this way, even if it's totally awful.  and it usually motivates me to go back and fine tune things.

i hope you have a wonderful family dinner.  i'm going to revisit my lists and figure out what to do next.  check in if you have time.  i promise i'll try not to write as much next time!

oh i didn't say i make the list in a certain order and we do them in that order - like if there are dishes in the kitchen i know that's scott's thing so i'd put him in the kitchen first then me second to finish it up.  or if our room is neat i'll put him in there first because i know he'll do the bed but if it's awful i'll put myself in there first because he gets quickly overwhelmed by a messy bedroom.

so i'm way behind of course because i never allow enough time to go to my mom's - there's always more talking than i plan on plus even tho she is 2 miles away i never figure in loading and unloading etc.  and grocery shopping took longer than it should have for no reason other than i was paranoid about spending money and still spent way too much!

  • get futon mattress
  • unload futon mattress
  • put futon mattress in c's room
  • put old futon mattress in garage or by curb
  • get chairs
  • unload chairs
  • put gas in malibu
  • grocery shop
  • put away groceries
  • tell kids to clean their rooms while i'm gone
  • clean up the front yard
  • move santa SCOTT DID BUT THEN HE LEFT THE GARAGE DOOR 1/4 CLOSED SO WHILE HE WAS LOOKING DOWN AT THE POWER CORD HE RAMMED HIS FOREHEAD HARD ON THE GARAGE DOOR - NOW HE FEELS BAD AND HAS A BIG GOOSE EGG ON HIS FOREHEAD - I WAITED TO MAKE SURE HE WAS OKAY BEFORE I CALLED HIM A DUMBA** SO I THINK I SHOWED ADMIRABLE SELF-RESTRAINT
  • ask scott about bonton check
