Have you ever seen some message board posts with some very pretty font and wondered how they did that? Well we are going to show you not only how you can change your font on your message board posts, but also some of the list of hundreds of fonts that is on the web that you can use also in your posts.

But like everything else in life, there is certain rules on how these can be use, but we will get to that step later on at the end of this page.

So right now we are going to show you in 4 easy steps on how to change your font on the message board.

Step 1). When you open a new discussion or if you are going to reply to a thread, either way you can use this step. First off after you get to this point on the message board, you need to click on the top where it says "Font Style" as show below in picture one.

A new box opens up as most of you know by now and you can change your font to the 7 "common" fonts shown... Arial, Arial Black, Verdana, Times New Roman, Garamond, Lucida Handwriting and/or Courier New.

If you want to use a font other than the other 7 that are already listed in the drop-down Font Style box, you just choose the last option "Other Font...".

Step 2).  When you click on the last box called "Other Font..." you will get a box pictured like this below:

INow in the above picture 2, there will already be the general font that is listed if you did not pick something from the choices of the 7 from step one.

Step 3). Now you will notice that the text is already highlighted in the above example, now all you need  to do is type in your selected font you want to use on the message board, Make sure that you type in exactly the name of the font that you wish to use as I have shown in the example in picture number 3 below

Step 4).  In my example above I had typed in Cursive, which is a different font and select the OK button. Now in my message board post, I am now going to begin to start typing in the font "cursive"  The example is below in picture number 4.

See how easy that was to use? It only took 4 easy step to use a custom font in a matter of seconds. Now give it a try and see if you can find a favorite font from the list on the second page.

Now that you know how to change the font, I will explain those special rules that I  was refering about at the top of this page about how and why when it comes to using these fonts.

Only the fonts that you have already install on your computer or installed on another persons computer can see them.

Here is a example of what I mean:

If I have Harrington or French script mt font install on my computer which is highlighted in red on the above line and you do not have them already installed on your computer, then at this point you will not be able to see the true font as it was ment to be displayed. Instead you will see a generic font.

For those of you who do have Harrington or French script mt font(s) installed on your computer, you will now be able to see them displayed correctly.

So just remember this rule...

Just because you are using the drop down box and typing in the font, it will do you no good if  you don't have those fonts installed in your fonts folder on your computer.

So please remember that even if you do have every font install to your computer and you can see them, anyone else who does not have those fonts also installed on their computer will not be able to see them, they will just see it as Arial, Geneva, and/or Sans-serif font which is the generic font for MSN groups.

To get a list of some of the more popluar fonts used in MSN Groups, select our second page "here".
