Aleister Crowly 1875-1947 Aleister Crowly is best known as an infamous Black Magician and Satanist. He was born and educated in England. Aleister was once a member of one of the "Nine Covens" of Old George Pickingill in 1899. But he was dismissed for failure to attend rituals, personal ego and sexual perversion.As Pickingill's coven was of hereditary witch linege, the community elders worked very hard to sever any connection between Crowly and the Craft. Aleister then went on to form his own tradition- the Abbey of Thelema. Aleister Crowly was introduced to Gerald Gardner by Arnold Crowther.
