Of The Celebrant For celebrating you can wear fresh flowers and herbs in your hair and on your body. During Spring and Summer rites, crowns or chaplets of flowers are appropriate, for Winter rituals wear Oak and Pine. For Full Moon rituals held at night, wear night blooming fragrant flowers. For jewelery you can wear necklaces made from herbs and seeds, such as Tonka beans, whole Nutmegs, Star anise, Acorns, Pine cones and other seeds and nuts, strung on natural fibre. Of The Tools The following suggestions are for dedicating the tools before their first use or formal consecration. Perform these with ritual intent and proper visualization. The Magick Knife Or Sword Outside at sunrise, somewhere you will not be seen or disturbed, rub the blade with fresh Basil, Rosemary or Oak leaves. Then lay the knife or sword on the ground with its point to the South. Walk clockwise around it 3 times, scattering fresh Bay leaves over it. Then take up the knife/sword and stand facing East and holding it up but with arms lowered, invoke the God to infuse your knife/sword with His strength. Then point it to the sky, invoking the Goddess to charge your blade with Her love and power. Then wrap your knife/sword in red cloth and take it home. The White Handled Knife ( Bolline ) Early in the morning, go to a forest, park, garden, or even your indoor garden. Then choose the most beautiful plants. Touch the point of the knife gently to these in turn, forging a connection between your knife, plants and the Earth. Then sit down on the Earth and draw a pentgram with the knife's point on the ground. It is best to make sure that you are alone, to avoid unwanted attention. The Wand If your wand is made from wood, take it outdoors at sunset and rub it with fresh Lavender, Eucalyptus or Mint leaves. Then raise your wand in the air toward the East or the Moon if it is visible and invoke the Goddess. Then at sunrise take the wand outside again and then rub with the fresh and fragrant leaves and inoke the God by raising it to the East. The Pentacle Place the pentacle on bare Earth, then lay upon it dried Parsley, Patchouly, Mistletoe or fresh Jasmine or Honeysuckle flowers. Sit before the pentacle facing North for several seconds, visualizing the pentacle absorbing the Earth's energies. Then pick the pentacle up and scatter the herbs or flowers to the Four Quarters, beginning and ending in the North. This can also be done indoors if need be, by filling a small dish with fresh Earth and then saving the herbs or flowers to be scattered outdoors later on. The Censer Before its first use, fume pure Rosemary, Frankincense or Copal within the censer, for about an hour. The Cauldron Take your cauldron to a stream, river, lake or ocean and gather the leaves of some plants growing nearby, or seaweed if you are at the sea. Dip the cauldron into the water to fill it, then place the leaves into it and then set it on the water's edge, where it is both on water and land. Then using any words you like, place your hands on the cauldron and dedicate it to the Goddess. Then empty and dry your cauldron and return home. This can also be performed inside if need be, in a candle-lit room place the cauldron in a large basin of cold water or even the bathtub. Add some Salt to the water then proceed as above. Make sure that you thoroughly wash the cauldron after it has been in the sea or salt water as salt corrodes metal. The Cup Anoint the cups base with Gardenia, Rose or Violet Oil and then fill with pure spring water. Then set afloat on the water a sprig of Ivy, a small Rose, a fresh Gardenia or other appropriate flower or herb. Then gaze into the cup and invoke the Goddess to bless it. This can also be done outside at night to catch the Moon's reflection within the water. ...For Herbal Grimoire Page 3 |
