Skinny Bath Formula

Adapted from The Essential Oils Book, by Colleen K. Dodt (Storey Books, 1996).

Try this easy two-step way to eliminate toxins in the body and shed a few unwanted pounds: the secret ingredient, an essential oil, has been used for centuries to open and cleanse the skin. The heavenly aromatherapy fragrance is uplifting and stimulating, a real help when the emotions are drained and in deed of support.

Your skin will be soft, glowing, and sweet-smelling after using this exfoliating technique and bath. The author also swears by it as a way of losing some unwanted weight! And you will love the scent, prized for thousands of years for its clarifying, purifying, and uplifting properties. Here’s the simple formula:

1. Start with a Salt Glow: Mix 2 cups sea salt with 1 ounce of base oil (almond, jojoba, or olive all work well) and 4 drops of essential oil of juniper. Mix very well. Stand nude in a dry bathtub and gently massage your body starting at the feet and working your way up, massaging in a circular, clockwise motion. As the oiled salts fall to the base of the tub, pick them up and reuse them until the entire body (except for face and neck) has been massaged.

2. Leaving the salt glow ingredients in the tub, fill the tub with warm water and add 3 drops of grapefruit essential oil. Soak in the tub for several minutes. You will emerge with softer, fresher skin, feeling uplifted and rejuvenated. Your skin will literally glow!
