Scrying To Scry means to gaze at or into an object, this might be a Quartz Crystal Sphere, a Pool of Water, Reflections, a Candle Flame or a Dark Mirror. To Scry you have to still the Conscious Mind and Contact the Psychic Mind. This allows the scryer to become aware of possible events prior to their actual occurrence. The Psychic Mind is the subconsious or unconscious mind which works when we meditate, dream and sleep. Scrying is a very old practice and was thought to have come about when the light of the Full Moon was reflected on a pond or lakes watery surface, this was before Crystal Balls appeared later in history. But before Crystal Balls were used, highly polished dark-coloured stones, such as Obsidian or Jet were used. Dr John Dee, the famous British Occultist, who served the Royal Court of Queen Elizabeth I, owned such a stone, which was referred to as his "Magic Mirror". The Magick Mirror Dr John Dee's Magic Mirror ( photo taken in the British Museum) As mentioned before the first Magick Mirrors were made from polished stone, today they are made from dark stained glass. To scry in the mirror, the person must gaze deeply into the black surface. The lighting used for doing this, should be one or two small candles only. The mind is then cleared of all thoughts, untill a vision or image appears in the dark surface. You might want to concentrate on a single question, while scrying. Sometimes an image might be as clear as a photo or even nothing but symbols or just movement. Some people see the images in colour and others just in black and white. Try not to gaze for too long at a time, say 10 to 15 minutes at the most. Then slowly let yourself return to reality as you have probably been in a light meditative state. Don't worry if you don't see any images the first few times you try to scry, as it takes time and concentration. Crystal Spheres Crystal Spheres or Balls work in the same way as for dark mirrors. Glass Balls are fine too, although crystal has the advantage of drawing you into its energy field as you work with it. Protect your sphere by wrapping it in a black silk or cotton cloth. Keep it away from sunlight, but sometimes expose it to the light of the Full Moon. Water To use Lakes and Ponds to scry with, gaze at the water under the light of a Full Moon. Thank the Water Spirit by leaving a token of thanks, such as Flower Petals or a Special Herb and sprinkle them on the water. If you don't have access to a lake or pond, a bowl can also be used for scrying. Choose a dark-coloured bowl and fill it with water. Cauldrons also make a good choice for scrying. Oil Olive Oil is an acient form of scrying using the Sacred Oil. Put a tablespoon of Olive Oil in a bowl of water. When the droplets form a circle, you may begin to scry, gazing into the oil as it floats on the water. Click Above To Go To Runes |
