Astral Travel Astral Travel is very different to normal dreaming. It is an extraordinary experience. All who have experienced it can testify to its lucidity and magical quality. It is interesting that conscious Astral Travel is experienced as clearly as we experience our daily life. In fact, it is even experienced more clearly at times: our senses seem sharper and the environment somehow more real. It is often considered that Astral Travel (Out-of-Body Experiences) is only encountered by people that have had a near death experience after an accident or on the operating table. But Astral Travel is a natural possibility that anyone can develop through practice. The Gnostic Movement teaches how to Astral Project (to pass consciously from the Physical Plane to the Astral Plane) with very successful results. One such practice of Astral Projection simply allows us to become aware of the natural process of going to sleep. If we manage to be aware of this, then we consequently become aware of our departure into the Astral Plane as well. So when we are Astral Travelling, we are aware of the fact that we are physically asleep and that our physical body is at home in bed. We know we are actually in this other plane, as opposed to the dreamer who only realises they were not in the physical plane upon waking the next morning. While Astral Travelling we make conscious decisions - like where to go, what to do, or who to meet. Why should we Astral Travel? In the Astral the sky is not the limit. One can fly way beyond the blue sky, into deep space exploring the planets. One can consciously project to any part of the world through concentration... We can fly through the air, having a birds eye view of what is below, traveling across the surface of our huge planet... Imagine being able to glide over the ocean like a seagull, or being able to penetrate into it and breath beneath it like a fish... We can meet enlightened beings, even of distant ancient traditions, who can help guide us along the Spiritual Path. Or we can even attend true esoteric schools and temples to learn much about the mysteries of life and death... There is all sorts of hidden knowledge one can acquire through Astral Projection, knowledge that cannot be acquired in every day life, from other people or books. This is the reason why many want to Astral Travel - to acquire knowledge through experience about ourselves, about the Earth, the Universe, or anything we want to. All of this is available to us through Astral Travel. It is something worth experiencing and verifying. Copyright astralweb.com |

I was in the habbit of travelling down my hallway in my appartment and I didn't like the feeling, partly because I thought I was dreaming. I would go to switch a light on and it never ever turned on no matter which one I tried then I would start floating around the room it was scary for me. A medium simply told me to say, No more flying and it has stopped. I am curious to do this again but now I am a little affraid of it - It felt like someone was actually lifting me up and taking me out ha - How do I start doing it again and what were will I go? ha. |

Gosh I need to hit this board more often Raccel, there is nothing to fear really when you astral. There is an invisible cord that will keep you attached to your body so you can just "drift away". Ask before you conciously astral, or dream state astral, that your guides & angels remain with you, and that the only feelings you have are that of safety, and peace. It works, it really really does :) Happy Tarvels Raccel |

Ashara hon, I can so much resonate to this. Not new to me, as you probably know, but it's nice to read about it every now and then, to see different perspectives from people writing about it. It is often considered that Astral Travel (Out-of-Body Experiences) is only encountered by people that have had a near death experience after an accident or on the operating table. But Astral Travel is a natural possibility that anyone can develop through practice. This is true. I began Astral travelling when I was a child, so it is quite normal to me. After my NDE experiences, naturally, it became more heightened. I have so much fun when I astral....sometimes I meet other souls, (many that have actually passed on)....I am very lucid in my thoughts and spirit, so I know immediately who has already traversed the physical planes into the spiritual, and who hasn't. I love it, when I can just defy all the time boundaries, and then all I have to do is think, "lift", then I start to levitate, or I think "fly", then I start to zoom around..... it's such an exhiliarating feeling.... Ashara, I know you'll love this one....sometimes I go visit our space visitors, and they smile as they know I'm right there with them... *giggle* .... (gotta love these ones) ...but then, they do the same to me, lol.... Thank you sweetie for posting this, Love ya, Shan P.S. Almost forgot.....I've reached a point now that I don't even have to go to sleep to astral...I can do it in my "wake hours".... |

All except that Tarvels part ;) Here's more Astral Projection, Dreaming, Lucid Dreaming It's my opinion that astral projection, dreaming and lucid dreaming are intertwined in the same locale. The difference between dreams, projection and lucid dreaming is what is at the controls (the conscious mind or the subconscious mind). Even if you get the vibrations and roll out of your physical body, you will end up "dreaming" very quickly if you don't know what you're doing. People say, "I failed because I fell into a dream." Well, no you didn't, you just gave up conscious control to the subconscious mind which makes the experience totally different! The subconscious mind has its own agenda and communication system. Your conscious mind is concerned with the here and now. Your subconscious mind is concerned with processing life events, working out soul lessons, attempting to bring past and future events into your consciousness, and a bevy of other things. Subtle realm experiences, dream or otherwise, get "fantasy like" because again, a person has lost conscious control. The same exact thing happens in the astral if you don't use clarity statements. People just don't realize what the astral is like (during a conscious projection). Yes, it can be as lucid and clear as the waking state, but you can slip into the Alice in Wonderland effect (subconscious control) faster than you can shake a stick! In fact, control can be lost in less than a minute. I have rolled out of my body, gotten half way down my stairs, totally lost conscious control, and slipped into fantasy land immediately. Only through sheer will power, and constantly directing my focus towards my goal, am I able to maintain a lucid state. Published astral projection author, William Buhlman, also states that clarity statements are a must for maintaining lucidity and control. The astral is a malleable place where form follows thought, but don't just think it follows "conscious" thought. It also follows subconscious thought. Many an advanced projector, including the famous Robert Monroe, would marvel at how things would materialize (or that they would be transported to an event or place) quicker than they could form the desire consciously. That is how fast and strong the subconscious works! An example of an astral dream is if you are working on a lesson. Many lessons cannot be worked out on the physical plane because you wouldn't be able to handle the issue over and over (or even once), whereas you can handle fairly severe scenarios in the astral. For example, we assume all beings not recognizable, such as subtle plane entities, are "evil." If you dream of a freaky looking entity then you'll experience the fear emotion. Fear is generally the first reaction, and often the only reaction, to this experience. Time and time again I was afraid of what I didn't recognize, until I learned to give it a chance, and even send it love. Only then did it morph into something I recognized and that is, the very same life energy that I was. I doubt I'd find it all too pleasant to find some scary looking being in my bedroom at night in the physical, but I can endure it over and over in the astral. It seems like a "crazy" dream, but it is your subconscious mind nudging you in the direction of total awareness and unconditional love. Dreams can often come true. A common name for a psychic of this sort is a "sleeping psychic." If we did nothing but remain in our bodies during sleep then this would not be possible. People have even met their friends and loved ones in "dreams" and both parties remembered the experience. In so called dreams, messages are given and futures told. People write me in frustration that they can't consciously project. Well, why not instead realize that you project every night and tackle it from a different viewpoint? Why not learn lucid dreaming (or lucid projection) and bypass the whole nonsense of "vibrations and rollout?" Remember, you project every night you sleep. All we're doing here is trying to get conscious control of the subtle state. http://www.astralvoyage.com |

I HAVE NOT PURPOSELY ASTRALLY TRAVELED IN 6 YEARS. I WAS EXPERIMENTING WITH IT AND HAD A SCARE. I FOUND THAT I COULD TRAVEL IN THE PRESENT IF I STEPPED STRAIGHT OUT IN FRONT OF ME. IF I STEPPED OUT DIAGONALLY FORWARD (EITHER SIDE) I COULD GO FORWARD IN THE FUTURE. IF I STEPPED OUT DIAGONALLY BACKWARDS (EITHER SIDE) I COULD GO IN THE PAST. IT WAS REALLY COOL. I WORE AN AMULET ON A CORD AROUND MY NECK AT THE TIME AND ONE TIME WHEN I AWOKE IN THE MORNING IT HAD A BIG CATCH IN IT LIKE IT HAD BE CLAWED OR CAUGHT ON SOMETHING. I ALSO TRIED NOT TO BE GONE FOR MORE THAN TWO HOURS AS I HAD READ THAT IF GONE LONGER FROM YOUR BODY THEN IT IS LEFT OPEN FOR OTHER SPIRITS TO INHABIT YOU PHYSICAL BEING AND YOU COULD HAVE A HARD TIME GETTING IT BACK. I THINK I STILL DO TRAVEL WHEN THE DESIRE IS STRONG ENOUGH BUT I HAVE NOT PURPOSELY INITIATED THE TRAVEL. MAYBE ONE DAY I WILL GET THE GUTS ENOUGH TO TRY IT AGAIN AS IT WAS GENERALLY ENJOYABLE. ANYWAY JUST A NOTE ON WHAT I HAVE LEARNED SO FAR. ILLA |

Well, I was going to go to bed, really. Oh well. Hello everyone, and mom, sorry I didn't see your post sooner. BAD me, supposed to check these things. For those that have concerns about leaving your body behind, not only are you connected to it by a cord which you may or may not see, but there are also measures you can take to keep your body protected from intruders. A lot of us know it as the white light exercise, where you fill yourself with the light and surround your body with it. It's also known as the kekkaki barrier (if I mispelled, I'm tired, if so, I hope Onmyou_kitsune pops in and corrects me) among the practictioners of onmyoudo, mikkyou, and senseijutsu which are all Japanese types of shamanism. Onmyoudo seems to draw heavist on Taoist principles from China, but neh, that's not the point. Anyway . . . when you plan to step out of your body or even just go to sleep, it's good to visualize a big bubble type structure surrounding you. Make sure when you visualize it that it extends around you below as well so you don't get a sneak attack. As an example, my basic barrier sort of looks like blue flames or that water/light in the transformation scene from Brother Bear for those that have seen that animation. Sometimes I add others as well. Program it to keep out everything but you and your helpers in case they need to physically move it while you're gone. Rare, but that happens sometimes. Mom, how long ago was that gash, didn't that happen before you and I started really talking about this stuff? The hummingbird one, right? Additional measures that can be taken to further your protection and peace of mind are to call on your spirit helpers, dragon friends, angels, or deity of your choice to protect you and your body while you are out. Amulets and talismans such as seals/ofuda or jewelery can be worn on the body or placed around the room for added safety. |
