I believe that the first record that I bought with my own money (without asking my mom for it) was My Sharona by the Knack.

Other than Disney records, and I do mean the vinyl things, 45's and 331/3's, those ancient arifacts, well I bought:

ABC by the Jackson 5 and Let it Be by the Beatles as 45's and I still have them framed on my wall! I was 9 years old!

My first non-Disney or non-kids's album was "A Hard Day's Night."  I still have it.

One of the first records I had was The Police 'Dont Stand So Close To Me' when it came out. But my Dad bought it for me. I still have it on Vinyl.
The first ones I bought with my own money was 'Born In The USA' by Bruce Springsteen, and also at the same time 'Dream Of The Blue Turtles' by STING (on tapes).

The cassette tape of U2's Under a Blood Red Sky!  I will always remember it..I even remember the wee record store I bought it at in Medowlark mall which isn't even there anymore!  I wore it out in places...but I still have it.
