Hi Bleggy,
Hoping you can help me I found an old cd from 2000 which had stored on it info from above program but not the actual  program that runs it.
I cant open the files with my Legacy 6 program. The cd is labelled as XROOTS. Do you know where I can get a copy of this program from?
Or does anyone have a copy they can send me?
Thanks for your time
Gerry4331

Hi Gerry, I believe that the program was made by a now defunct company, I found a web site that has some information on it http://www.ogram.org/familyroots/ , they call programs orphans when the creators dont have any upgrades or followups andcease supporting it.
there is an email address that might work but as none of the other links to the program would work I am doubtful about the email address to Kathryn @...
I will have another look  for you later as well

Just had another thought is the information on the disk a large file,  if you could just email the file to me I could have a go at opening it with one of my many tree programs if you think this is an option put a message on the site and I will contact you by email

I will try the site mentioned.I was also advised to keep my eye open for the $10 /throw away bins that sometimes happen at Harvey Norman amd other stores.
Thanks for your help

Hi Gerry,
I have found on a  disk a program called a GENViewer, that I have just found on the site www.download.com I think it may work for you as it will view a gedcom from almost any family tree program. Go to download dot com and in the search type GENViewer. It is listed as GENViewer 1.02.
The early reviews said it was a usefull tool for reading Gedcoms from any tree, there are a couple that say it is useless and it has problems but download check everything for virus' before allowing them on the site, so those sort of messages are usually put on there by idiots or people who are in competition with the creator of the program to scare people into not downloading.
But note it is only a timed share program and it is either good for 15 or 30 days to use. So if it works you will have only a short time to copy all the information over.
Hope this is of help.
Bleggy
