More Friends Without Faces
They are friends without faces, but friends just the same,
And we talk on for hours, because they feel the same
In the hours of the morning, when insomniacs roam.
For sleep it eludes us, so I chat on with one
Whose face I imagine, are they tall, thin or fat?
With a crop of long brown hair, no doubt about that!
For I picture a friend, one I have never seen
Whose name ends with a number! Maybe the hair’s green!!
But we speak the same language, of computer shorthand,
For we say things like BRB, when ever we stand,
Or I’ll CUL, or ROFL and we both understand just what it meant.
We send Emoticons and Smileys, cute ones for a friend.
When we talk in a chat room and some one wanders in,
So politely we greet them, but quickly they’re gone,
Now I wonder what happened did I say something wrong,
Or were they quite lost, wandering room to room.
One day there’s an email, and I know the name!
It ends in a number, it is one and the same,
My friend from the chat room has sent me a pic,
He is short fat and bald! Well how about that!!
I’ll continue to chat with my friend just the same,
And imagine the green hair with the odd numbered name.
