GRANDFATHER'S MOTTO If you come here on business friend, 'tis well, but if to gossip, I, the truth must tell. Time is not mine ~ to me 'tis kindly lent ~ and I'm accountable if it is vainly spent. My neightbours' faults, I have no wish to know, my own, I feel, - and have no stone to throw. My Gt Gt Gt Grandfather THOMAS E BIRCH, wrote this little poem, which hung above the door of his Tailor Shop, in Pudding Lane, off Queen Ann Road, MAIDSTONE, KENT, ENGLAND, where his parents before him had been Hatters. 1797-1871 Lkea FRIENDSHIP How Precious is God's gift of friendship given by His grace. He leads us into places where we'd never dare to go and there we find a kindred spirit, a gentle, kindly loving soul, we are so glad to know. A friend who always shows us care, by being kind and thoughtful. A helping hand when we feel down - and yet - sometimes by just being there when a sympathetic ear is needed - knowing words are not required at all. A special bunch of hand picked flowers bring a joy beyond compare, and a little gift of biscuits what fun it is to share. As times are shared amongst us, happy times, and sorrow, and through all of these we know, That whatever life may deal - a humble wooden table or a stately throne with our precious friends around us we will never be alone. I thank all of the wonderful 'pen' friends I have made through Un-Closeted. What a bond we share as we search for all the answers that we know, just must be there. lkea - August 2007
