With Love to The Little Ones

With love remembering those little ones
that never made a breath.
Or left this Earth after such a short visit,
we have no photo to fill the frame
no place to visit, place flowers or mourn,
Never knowing what you would become.
We cry in sorrow for you are gone,
that little spot that you would fill
will forever be empty, no other can fill
the space that was yours, and yours alone
my little one you are safe in God's arms.
But I wish it was my arms,
for the place you should be
is here by my side to grow old with me,
but that was not so, and all I can do
is share my love though a little poem
So for my Baby D, and Baby Bennett,
the babies Saunders, my brother Robert,
the Babies Spratt and Baby S
for little Sarah and Peter John,
for Sarah and the "little Robb Blessings"
for those un-named those tiny souls.
but were loved by a mother
so close to her heart
now God please keep thees little ones
in a place that is cosy, safe and warm.

I'll lend for you a little time, a child of mine, He said,
For you to care for while he lives, and mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three,
But, will you, till I call him back,
take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you,
and should his stay be brief,
You'll have his loving memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return,
but there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.
I've looked this wide world over in my search for teachers true,
and from the crowds that throng life's lanes
I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labour vain,
nor hate me when I come to call and take him back again?
I fancied that I heard them say,..
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
for all the joy Thy child shall bring the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness, We'll love him while we may
and, for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.
But should you have to call for him much sooner than we'd planned,
we'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand"
