Does anyone have any idea how I find out about a ship named "MAORI KING". I have found an obituary for a relative who died on the "MAORI KING" 2 days sail from TENERIFFE. 11th November 1895.
I googled the name & it seems it was a NEW ZEALAND ship, I would like to find out why it was on it's way to ENGLAND.
Was it a cargo ship or passenger?

"rlsiam".

Hi "rlsiam",
At this point I have not been able to find anything on the "MAORI KING" but will continue to check whether I am able to locate anything.
One site to try that may help is www.nzcoastalshipping.com/links.html
I have not checked this site yet for the "MAORI KING".

Hi "rlsiam",
If you check our "overseas links" for NEW ZEALAND there "may" be something there about the "MAORI KING".

Hi "rlsiam",
What was the name of the person who died aboard the "MAORI KING"?
It may be easier to find out more about the ship if we are able to locate the passenger list for her.

Hi "rlsiam",
I am just guessing but would assume Thomas Andrew JOHNSTON's death would have been registered at the next Port of call after the "MAORI KING" left TENERIFFE; which Port that would be I don't know.
Sorry, not much help am I?
I will keep looking to see whether I am able to find anything.

Enforcer,

I have been told that I should contact the Maritime Museum in ENGLAND. So I'm giving it a try.

Hi "rlsiam",
Good luck, please advise how you go with your query.
I have been meaning to look further into NEW ZEALAND shipping since I cannot find anything on the MAORI KING but the time just gets always from me; sorry.
