Hi All,

I'm trying to find when George ANTRIM came to AUSTRALIA and where in Surrey he came from.  George was b. c1814 SURREY, ENGLAND. His death is registered 1871 aged 57yrs parents John ANTRIM and Mary ?. Reg. 2080.

He married Margaret RUSSELL and they had a son James Stewart Russell ANTRIM who died 1936 THORNBURY, MELBOURNE Reg 11354.  I haven't found where George and Margaret married it could have been ENGLAND, or where James was born?

James ANTRIM m. Sarah Catherine DAVIDSON 1878 in MELBOURNE and I have there childrens names.

Thankyou in advance for any help!

Hi "Cousins1944",
I am wondering whether your ANTRIM family may have arrived in another state other than VICTORIA.
The only ANTRIM family I can find is one that arrived as Unassisted passenger aboard the EAGLE SPEED which arrived in VICTORIA July 1857.

Hi Enforcer,

It seems George is going to be a bit harder to track down than I first thought.  I'll have to try and have a look at some interstate immigration records and see if I can find them there.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Enforcer,

I just found on the TASMANIAN archive office site a listing for a George ANTRIM as a convict arriving 27 Feb 1845 aboard SIR GEORGE SEYMOUR ship departing from LONDON on 21 Nov 1844.
I wonder if this is my George?
Is there anyway I can find out more info on that record to make sure it's the right George before ordering his records?

Thanks,
"Cousins1944"

Hi "Cousins1944",
What a shame it does not give his age.

Hi "Cousins1944",
I wonder whether his Ticket Of Leave may give his age or other details?
Do you know whether he was previously married in ENGLAND?
I found a George ANTRIM born SURREY married to an Amelia on the 1841 census.

Hi "Cousins1944",
I doubt there is anyway to find out more information without obtaining the papers from the TASMANIAN Archives.
Does George's death certificate state how long he was in the Colony and each state of the Colony?

Hi "Cousins1944"
You may be able to obtain George ANTRIM's details from TASMANIA.
I have not been able to find a Ticket Of Leave / Pardon etc. for him.
Below is the TASMANIAN Archives page URL where you can order his record.
