Hi, I'm trying to find where John Henry STEVENS was born and any info on his parents, siblings etc. On his second marriage certificate it states he was born in SURREY, ENGLAND. Parents John Henry STEVENS and Mary Ann ?. On his death certificate it states b. DONCASTER, ENGLAND and that he has been in VICTORIA for 21yrs or 2 yr (numbers not too clear) and 60yrs in NSW. He died 28 Aug 1931 aged 83yrs. His parents are listed as John Henry STEVENS and Mary Ann SMITH??. I've tried to find out when he came to AUSTRALIA but have been unsuccessful and would really like to trace his steps back in ENGLAND. Can anyone help? Thanks |

Posted for "Cousins1944" Hi Enforcer, John Henry STEVENS 1st marriage was to Mary Ann HARBOUR 14 Jun 1869 in FITZROY, MELBOURNE. They had three children and Mary Ann died a year after there third child was born. John then married Evlyne WHITMORE in May 1875 in EAST BYLANDS, VICTORIA. They had 10 children as you have listed above. Evlyne died 2 Aug 1909 in YARRAGON. I don't know John Henry STEVENS birth date only that he was born c1847, 1848 as he was 83yrs old when he died. Hi All, I'm trying to find a divorce record for Flora Alice STEVENS (CHAPMAN) she married Seymour Orbost STEVENS in 1914 in MELBOURNE and they had five children. It appears Seymour went to NEW SOUTH WALES and may have changed his name to Robert John STEVENS and had another two wives; 1st Margaret Gladys YEO and Elsie or Alma HUTCHISON. Anyway Flora Alice remarried in 1934 to James MONKS in MELBOURNE, I would like to find out if she divorced Seymour Orbost STEVENS prior to marrying James MONKS. Thanks, "Cousins1944" | |

Hi "Cousins1944", On the 1851 census on ANCESTRY there is a John STEVENS to parents John and Mary but he was born C<1838> ECCLESALL, YORKSHIRE so would be too old to be your John Henry. There does not appear to be any others that suit him. |

Posted for "Cousins1944" Hi Enforcer, John's Marriage Certificate to Maryann HARBER in 1869 says he was 23yrs old and came from SURREY, ENGLAND. His father was John Henry STEVENS a gardener and his mother Hannah unknown. His second Marriage Certificate says he was 29yrs old when he married Eveline in 1875 and that he was also from SURREY, ENGLAND and his father was John Henry STEVENS a gardener, and his mother was Mary Ann Unknown as she died when he was young. So I believe he was born around 1846. Thanks for help Cousins1944 |
