Hi All
I am a Kiwi and I started doing my Family Research 5 years ago and how I started I was at my son's place talking to his partner's mother and she happened to mention that she had done hers and she bought out the file that she had done to show me and she said that is was very interesting and she would help me get started.
She kindly came round to my place and installed the "Family Tree Maker" programme onto my computer and too cut a long story short I have never looked back and at present I have approx 14,500 in my Family Tree today and it still keeps on growing.
Now when I look back I was a real novice I did not know where or what sites to visit but over the years with experience and help from other members I have gained a wealth of knowledge and the many distant relatives I never knew I had have made contact with through groups & sites.
All I can say is it is a very addictive hobby and which I do not regret starting and what a buzz you get when you discover that elusive Ancestor who was either hiding away or had changed his identity.
I have 2 sons, 3 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 2 stepgrandsons & 1 g.grandson.
