Hi everyone,
Thanks for the warm welcome to the group. I've had a brief looksee around the wonderful website, but still more to peruse yet.
Well , it's 2007 - and I've been happily married for 40 years. Have two wonderful grown children - the eldest married - and an adorable 10 year old grandson.
Various jobs, including self-employed with husband in retail and service trades for many years in NEW SOUTH WALES and QUEENSLAND before retirement.
My disabled husband and I enjoy the peacefulness of living semi-rural on small acreage. The local bird and animal life affords us much pleasure and great relaxation. We have identified over 60 species of birds and enjoy the kangaroos, wallabies, brush-tailed possums and rufus bettongs that are here daily/nightly.
My hobbies and interests include: my family and friends; genealogy and family history; reading - non-fiction and fiction - but mainly autobiographies, biographies and AUSTRALIAN history; collecting inspirational and humorous stories, poems and thoughts. I also enjoy classical / light classical music. Mostly I listen to instrumental music and the beautiful music and lyrics from old musicals, but also enjoy many entertainers, including just to name a few: Anthony WARLOW, John FARNHAM and The 3 Tenors.
I'm not a particular sports fan, though I sometimes join my hubby to watch cricket, tennis, boat, car and bike races, plus I occasionally watch some golf and indoor bowls. Have to admit that I enjoy tennis the most! We never miss coverage of Olympic events, walking and running Marathons.
Although I'm no particular "Green Thumb" gardening was another special interest for me until about six years ago due to my own ill health.
Having listed all the above interests I must confess that family history is my passion or obsession. I can't understand why family often think that I care more about the dead than the living.
I look forward to learning and sharing together with you all, and trust we may all experience many successes in our tree-climbin'.
Cheerio,
"kiahlinga"
