Hi everyone, I'm Topcat, not because I have delusions of grandeur, simply because my real initials are TC and the Topcat cartoon character was called TC by friends and that's good enough for me. Thanks to "BlueAAngel" for introducing me to the group and getting me accepted all of 2 hours ago. I'm a UK resident and have been all my life. I worked in the Civil Service (yawn) for over 40 years before taking early retirement last year. At least, I thought I'd retired until this part time job in an Estate Agents came along. Now I'm semi retired and thoroughly enjoying a new "career". I'm married and have been for 33 years with one daughter coming up 32 who is going to make us grandparents in about 3 weeks from now if all goes according to plan. I played cricket for over 40 years for 2 local sides and ended up as Treasurer of both of them at different times in my playing career. Sad to say I can no longer take part due to wear and tear on the knees leading to one of them now being metal and plastic. It stops me running and kneeling but not much else. I started tracing family about 13 months ago and currently have nearly 13,000 names which need a bit more detail added to them before setting up another website. For pictures of me and the family plus an insight into where I've got to in the Genealogy research you can Google search on trevs10k.tribalpages.com and have a browse. The password is 5uzanne. I look forward to hearing from any like minded souls, especially anyone who has access to or is researching the DUNCOMBE family. I know Charles was a convict and went to TASMANIA in 1843 before being joined by son Alfred but I can't find out where he went from TASMANIA. It is rumoured that he took his ticket of leave to MELBOURNE but the trail has gone cold. I also have press cuttings regarding the murder of Edward "Deafy" DUNCOMBE in TASMANIA 1922 but there is, I believe, another case of murder in the same are of someone with the DUNCOMBE name. As yet details are not forthcoming from research. Hopefully someone out there can help me. I look forward to hearing from someone soon. Regards. "Topcat" |
