Ya know, not reporting it to the cops is one way to look at it I guess, but I will never forget the day the police knocked on my door with my 13 yr. old son in their custody. They asked if I knew he was hangin' out with the potheads that lived 3 doors down from us. I told them that yes, I knew he was hanging out with them, but I had noooooooo idea that they were pot heads. They came inside and sat down and talked very seriously with Corey and I and told us all about "contact" highs. Corey did NOT smoke any pot and his "friends" did not smoke any pot while he was in their house, but their place wreaked of it and when the police told me to smell Corey's clothes I just couldn't believe it. I could actually smell pot on his clothes! They told me that contact highs can mess up a kids mind just as bad as if he were smoking it himself. They gave us quite an education on drugs that day, thanked Corey for being honest with them and left. It wasn't but a couple of weeks later the police raided that house and all of the adults went to prison for a long time and the kids ended up with relatives and in foster homes. Soooooooo, I don't know that being quiet is such a good thing. Especially if there are kids in the house where the pot is being smoked at. They could be getting a contact high and that's almost as bad as actually smoking the stuff. Personally, I think an anonymous (sp) tip to the local drug hotline and then doing your best to keep kids away from places like that would be best. Kids shouldn't be subjected to that kinda stuff and if adults are doing that to them then the adults need to have some sense knocked into them. Sorry for having a different opinion, but my son could have been arrested for being high that day. Because most of the police in that small town knew us really well they just brought him home and talked with us. I'd hate to see anything happen to any kids because some adult was being so stupid as to smoke pot around them.
