This Gift of Love

Did I love you?   Back in time.

A love before both yours and mine.

To only span the years we've known

Would not explain the love that's grown.

It's such a time from seed to flower,

A thousand years and still an hour.

How good were we - as lovers then.

 This Gift ... This Life ... To Love Again.

There is a magic in being the other half

of an entity which did not need to grow

it was like it had been there for all time

as Ying and Yang could only show

how well ~ we fit together

though as opposites we part

still,  for all our time together

only you have held my heart

(a quick experimental rewrite of a piece which we both hold dear, I would never really change it)
