1. Heat oven to 150 degrees centigrade, 300 Farenheit, Gas mark 2. Grease an 18cm ( 7inch ) cake tin.
2. Place fruit,sugar,margarine and water in a pan, simmer slowly with the lid on for 20 minutes.
3. Allow to cool, then add beaten egg and stir in the flour.
4. Pour into prepared tin and bake for about 1 and a half hours.
Chefs Tip. It may help if you put greaseproof paper on top of the cake about half way through cooking, as this will help to stop the top of the cake from burning.
