Gingerbread


Ingredients

8oz plain flour
pinch  salt
2tsp of ground ginger
1tsp of bicarbonate of soda
2oz of soft brownsugar
4oz of margarine
6oz of black treacle
2oz golden syrup
1/4 pint of milk
2 medium eggs beaten
2oz of sultanas  (optional)
1tsp of mixed spice
 

Procedure

 Heat the oven to 150 degrees centigrade,
300 degrees farenheit, gas maked 2
grease an 18cm (7in)square deep cake tin.
 
sieve together flour,salt,ginger,spiceand bicarbonate of soda stir in the sugar
 
Melt the margarine treacle and syrup gently.
Gradually bet in the milk and allow to cool
 
Add the beaten eggs and mix well . Stir in the mixture into the flour and add sultanas
 
 
Pour mixture into prepared tin and bake
for 1 1/4 hours.
