Hi everyone,
Thought this might be a good idea for members and visitors to let the younger writers know what you think of their work. If you read something here in KidsPicks that you like, post a note to one of the authors and let them know that you appreciate the effort that they have made. Each of the stories and poems here was written by children between the ages of 8 - 12. Personally, I think that each of them has done an amazing job - but, as their teacher at one time or another - I am most unashamedly biased. Please enjoy the work of students posted here.

What a wonderful idea, I was so amazed at some of the stories and poetry the children have writen.

Alexia's "Dream"  Beautiful, keep your dreams and imagination.

E.M. "I can't write poetry" Wonderful, you made me laugh.

Fergus P "Uluru" Well done. Eagerly waiting your next story.

All authors have done a wonderful job.

Keep up the good work.

Walter, this is an amazing piece of writing  Absolutely brilliant! I showed it to many of the teachers and they were all breathless after reading it. It will appear in the school weekly Newsletter, and I'm confident it will make the judges sit up and take notice for the Young Poet of the Year Award. You can be suitably proud of your poem Walter - it is beautiful. Well done!

Walter I just read your poem and it is incredible considering how young you are, keep it up! You're work is only going to keep on improving as you get older as well.......lol I'm gobsmacked! I'm going into uni next year, I've recieved top English student of my school and I NEVER could write like that at your age.

Ps: Dad you must have taught him something lol

I adored Edgar Allan Poe's poem Dean and I think that you have done an amazing job using the same theme. Well done - You can be very proud of your efforts here

Laura, I know how hard you work on your writing each day and how much effort you put into the stories and poems you write. The Cheeky Monkey was a wonderful example of your work

Not sure how this is supposed to work, John - but here goes........

"The Raven" - Dean, the metaphors are electric - made my skin crawl - well done!

"The Lion" - Christian, the poignancy choked me - it is obvious you feel more for the lion than the man - Kudos to you!

"Cheeky Monkey" - Laura, well done too! You captured the "flitfullness", the energy of the creature to a tee!

Charm you have done very well indeed  The children love popping in to see if anyone has read their work and they simply burst with pride when they find that someone from somewhere far away has read their work and left them a reply  Thank you for bringing a smile to their faces and for giving them the feedback they need to keep working on something they obviously love and have enviable talent for,

Gratefully,
John

I have watched their page from the start,
and it has never disappointed me,
I love to read their works,
They are truly talented and amazing in the art,
I have yet to see one that doesnt touch me, make me smile, or bring out some kind of emotion,
May they continue as they grow, to be the talented and wonderful poets that they are,
Love Cuddles

Isn't it amazing that words can have the power to take your breath away sometimes. They are spoken so frequently in our normal every day passage...they are used and abused all the time....but...then someone comes along and is able to display his ability to hold the reader transfixed till the end of the story like this. A brilliant story for an adult..short and concise, let alone a 10 year old. 'I dips me lid' to Walter and wonder at his power to 'take my breath away'.
