Hi all ive been busy trying out a new plug in that will work with Paintshop and Corel and Adobe .
it converts your pictures to a really good quality pencil drawing that gives you major detail for transferring into a pattern
The Folks at AKVIS have given me a full vesion to test and make a tutorial from
So i been busy playing with this program .
Ive found that some pictures do not convert readily to a pattern but with this plug in it helps immensely.
When i get the full tutorial down to something that can be read i will post it for you all .
the program is called Sketch you can find it here AKVIS

Have you worked with the new, at least new to me, program by the name of "Sketch Master".  I have played around with their free trial and it does an acceptable job of filling in the blanks for my lack of hand eye coordination.  It is only 39.50 for a down loaded version.

Just curious.

You do have to go thru some extra steps since this is not a plug-in.  You have to save your work from Sketch Master and then open it into PSP or Photo Shop or what ever program you are using.

Okie, there is a free version of SketchMaster available (here) called Photo to Sketch that you may want to try. A few of the capabilities of the purchased version are unavailable but the basics are still there.

Darryn, you may want to try this also and give us a comparison with the AKVIS plugin.

So far under preliminary testing the AKVIS plug in is beating out Sketch master in ease of use and overall quality of end product.
I am still playing with it Its too hard to come up with a final judgment till Ive had time to play more fully with both.
But one PLUS is since the AKVIS plug in requires you to be in a graphic program to use you dont have to save then re-open to clean it up.

I down loaded that Photo to Sketch program mentioned by Tom (it's free) yesterday afternoon and its so easy I created 4 patterns.  This program is great.

Your email came to me and I’m the wrong dude.  I did try this in free 10 days and it looked promising, but I don’t have a tutorial. If you get a copy of akvis let me know how it works out for you.
