Guess I may be cheap but........Put together a homemade flex sander from stuff I had laying around collecting cobwebs. Total cost about $87 - $70 for the drums and arbors from Seyco and $17 for heavy duty extension cord, switch, box, & nuts/bolts. Now to figure out some sort of dust collection- any suggestions? Neat idea Tom. I was looking at a similar sanding system the other day in a hardware catalogue for around $500. Yours looks like it would be cheaper to make if only I had the spare parts. Any suggestions on where I can get workshop space to hold all these things that I want LOL Brett |

Tom You are so clever, I am cheap uhhhhh I mean frugal. That is absolutely wonderful. What do you use this for anyways? Quiet Brett I can hear you laughing. Kinda looks like the drum sanders in my drill press. If I turned it on it side that is lol. I wish I had your spare parts too. Sylvia |

Sylvia, Am preparing for my first intarsia project and wanted something for shaping and as I generally dislike sanding. Thought this may be easier than using my Dremel tools. Saw the SCK-02 on Seyco's site http://www.seyco.com/accessories.html and figured I could put together something from spare parts. Just happened to have an old 2 speed wash machine motor and the old belt driven grinding wheel sitting around and a spare stand, so.......... I now have a two speed flex sander at about 1/3 the cost. Hey Tom, I couldn't get the attachment to come up. Could you send me a picture of the sander. Sounds like I might need to make one. Jim |

4Pop3, I had removed the attachments to save a little space. Here they are again for you. I will leave them up for a week or so. Tom |

Thanks for re-posting the pictures. I printed a copy of the second photo. I have most of the components to build my own. Need to remind myself to get in the habit of looking at the date on the various posts. Thanks again. 4Pop3 |

Hi Tas2181
I made a dust collector that works fairly well. I purchased a box fan (3 spd) and then placed a furnace filter into of it. It collects dust like you wouldn't believe. Very inexpensive also.
