I am attending CREATION (4-5 days of Christian music) in 2 weeks with 30 teenagers and volunteered to cook for them. Well, it's gonna be a blast and I'm excited to go. Does anyone have any ideas (besides the usual spag, tacos, hot dogs and burgers) for easy cooking. We won't have a lot of cooler room, so anything open the can and heat type of meals that kids like. Sounds like the coolers will be full of lots of milk for those kids. Drinks will be powdered gater aid. There is a store we can get supplies near by. Of course I'll be packing my must-have tools. Here is a quick list: wedger chopper US&G knives cutting boards basting brush BBQ tools What else is a MUST HAVE? TIA, Sandi |

Will you have access to a stove, microwave, or grill? I've never been to Creation but got the impression everyone slept in tents & it was a bit rugged. Shish-ka-bobs would be fun and everyone can help make them...and don't forget S'mores...

ohmygosh! I *did* forget S'mores! We will have grills and 2 BIG pots to put on an open fire, too (I think that's what he said -- we are meeting in a couple of days). I am lucky I volunteered to cook cuz we have an RV and cooks get to sleep in the RV. So, I will also have access to a couple of burners in the RV, too. Kabobs would be fun, too -- adding that to my list. |

Here's a real simple recipe for beef-a-roni from my mother-in-law, great to feed a crowd:
1 pound grd beef, browned 1 can tomato soup (do not add water) 3/4 box of elbow macaroni, cooked
Add it all together and serve...feeds about 4 of us so you would need to increase it but it's yummy and simple and my family never tires of it!
Also, what about grilled pizza? You can simplify it by using English muffins or Italian bread, jarred pizza sauce, let them add their own toppings...
Have fun, I always wanted to go to Creation since I got saved 6 years ago but got pregnant shortly after salvation and those little ones will put a cramp in your style! (in a good way!)

I've been making homemade sloppy joes for meals to take to a family who has a child who has cancer and friends who have had surgery. Everyone loves it and asks for the recipe or for me to fix it again!
1 lb. hamburger 1/2 cup ketchup 1 (8 oz.) can of tomato sauce 1 Tbsp. vinegar 1 Tbsp. brown sugar 1 Tbsp. worcestershire sauce
Brown hamburger. Drain grease and add the rest of the ingredients. Stir and simmer for 10 minutes to heat.
*I have been making about 6 pounds of hamburger at a time and I add 5 of the other ingredients (hopefully that makes sense).
Then I serve this open-face and top with velveeta cheese/rotel tomato mixture. It is delicious!!!! My kids and husband request this every week and will eat it for 2 or 3 days and then want me to make more. I also make a big batch of during the day and put it in the crock pot on low for in the evening.
