Duchess of Aquitaine by Margaret Ball is a novel of Eleanor from the time of her father's death till the time of her divorce from Louis.  What I found interesting in it is that there was no hint of impropriety between Eleanor & her uncle Raymond of Antioch as has been bandied about; instead, it had her having a secret one-night stand with Manuel Commenus, the Emperor of Byzantium.  Now THAT I have never heard bandied about...anyone else heard such?  If not, then kudos to the author for cleverness in not taking the expected route

I had read once that she also had a fling with Saladin, then it was pointed out to be that he would have had to been about 6 at the time....Poor Eleanor, she gets blamed for so much depending on who the author of the book is that is writing about her.

Thats one thing I love about reading anything I can get my hands on about these royals.  After reading, or watching a movie, I then go to my books and research whatever facts there are or what the historians think.  In alot of cases, I find I need to draw my own conclusion.
