Just finished a book called "On Royalty - A Very Polite Inquiry Into Some Strangely Related Families" by Jeremy Paxman. While a great deal of it was about the current royal family of Britan, there is much to delight the history lover as well. Chapter titles such as "First, Find a Throne", "Learning to Be Regal" and "Now Find a Consort" give you a glimpse of the slightly snarky humor in this book. I epecially enjoyed the chapers "Killing a King" (now that sound horrible, that I enjoyed this one, doesn't it??) and "Divine Right and Diviner Impotence" which give insight into the death of Charles I. I would reccomned this book to any history buff! terrilee |
