Settle your stomachs with a nice bicarb, peeps....Philippa Gregory is still on her Tudors kick & has another novel coming out in September called The Other Queen.  Tis about MQOS so OMG can you imagine how squeaky-clean Mary will play in this, seeing as how much Gregory seems to despise Anne Boleyn & Elizabeth?   See HERE @ Amazon for details if you're not nauseated atm.

Well, you know I had to click on the link to read about this latest Gregory offering....I was prepared for her take on MQOS, so was taken aback to see this at the top of the excerpt..

Two women competing for a man's heart
Two queens fighting to the death for dominance
The untold story of Mary, Queen of Scots

I mean, how dramatic can you get - sounds like a commercial for one of the afternoon soaps!  A quick skim informs me that the "two women competing for a man's heart" would be MQOS & Bess of Shrewsbury (my very fav non-royal Tudor-era character!!   Anyone described as the Tudor version of Scarlett O'Hara has my heart! )

(tee hee) Had to laugh at this blurb... "Philippa Gregory uses new research and her passion for historical accuracy to place a well-known heroine in a completely new tale full of suspense, passion, and political intrigue. For years, readers have clamored for Gregory to tell Mary's story, and The Other Queen is the result of her determination to present a novel worthy of this extraordinary heroine."
Sounds like the claims of historical accuracy that "The Tudors" (also know as that travesty on Showtime ) And "completely new tale"??? Anyone who has read any of the bios or even a fictional bio of MQOS would know the story of her & the Shrewsburys.  At least it will hopefully get new peeps interested in this period of history...

And here I thunk MQOS & Elizabeth were fighting over Norfolk's , which Elizabeth, with the wisdom of Solomon, very kindly had ripped out of his chest on Mary's behalf LOL

Methinks people think (like the aforementioned travesty portrayed Buckingham ) Elizabeth had MQOS rotting in a Tower dungeon for years or something, instead of in the unfortunate Shrewsbury's keeping in various castles.  MQOS was better treated than what Henry did to Catherine of Aragon (until that whole head-cutting thing natch), even though she was far more devious & manipulative with Elizabeth than Catherine ever was to Henry.  The Shrewsburys had some nice digs when compared to the likes of Kimbolton & he about went bankrupt supporting MQOS, with Elizabeth's cheeseparing ways (the apple didn't fall far from the Henry VII tree there, huh?  She was Grandpa's lil darling LOL).
