Hello all,
Newbie here, I am a descendant of Edward III via my ancestor Lady Grace Talbot and would like to hear from any of my distant cousins who might be lurking on the boards, I am most likely not as learned as most of you here judging by the postings I have read so I shall probably be doing more reading/learning than posting but I will participate in discussions as they catch my eye and hope you will have the patience to deal with an amateur history buff who is curious about genealogy. Thank you for your time.
BP

As far as online database you can find my ancestors starting with Anne Cavendish and going backward to Edward online at www.peerage.com , after that in the direct line it goes as follows- Anne Cavendish begat Jane Lowe begat Mary Sewell begat Isaac Handy begat Mary Dashiell Handy begat Anne Handy Harris begat Elijah McCurdy Jr. begat Nathaniel Warren McCurdy begat Rebecca McCurdy begat Godfrey Clark begat Robbie Maureen Clark begat Janice Busby begat William Potter who is myself. I skipped all the non bloodline spouses names, realize it is alot of generations but you are welcome to check it if you wish. Hope this was of some help.

My second line to Edward is from my ancestor Peggy Cameron McCurdy of Isle of Bute Scotland who was the great-granddaughter of  James IV of Scotland who was descended from John of Gaunt,  Peggy's grandson and my ancestor Petheric McCurdy married Margaret Stewart a descendant of Robert II of Scotland who himself was descended from the Wessex Dynasty of Anglo-Saxon times as well as David II of Scotland.

I like The Peerage but their index leaves a lot to be desired, sometime it's tough to find what you are looking for.  Their Cavendishes start with a Cecil.   If you can direct link to the page where you start, Montharrow, I'm sure peeps would love to have a look!

Hi there, quick question here.  I've tried to trace my ancestors and find out information, but I can't seem to get anywhere with any luck.  Could anyone give me some pointers about how you got started, and where you looked?

I found a group site that was very helpful to me last year, a lovely lady called Sharon runs it. She was able to trace my family back to 1750 on one side and 1800 on the other. Her group is: groups.msn.com/AncestorChroniclesOurKinAndTheirTimes

I first tried ancestor.com or something like that, but the cost $$ was more than I wanted to pay, but Sharon was nice enough to look up my personal family history and was so helpful in finding out a lot of family mysteries for me. Good luck...Judy

thanks for the pointer.  I tried ancestry.com too, but it didn't get me anywhere, and was $$$!
