Its a mess.  Historically "f"ed up beyond recognition.  Great costumes & scenery.  Some good acting but jeeze louise, talk about creative license.   In one of the last scenes you see Mary taking Elizabeth out of the palace and home to the country with her.  It suggests that Mary raised her.  Also, they brought up the incest issue.  Anne begged her brother George to impregnate her to save her.  Unreal.

I read the book and saw the movie. The Boleyn girls were good, but I did not like the guy playing Henry at all, but at least sizewise he was closer than JRM. I liked having Elizabeth Howard Boleyn in the movie - have we ever seen her on film before?

She (Elizabeth Howard Boleyn) was in several scenes in Anne of a Thousand Days. Also, there is a very brief scene with  a very pregnant and rejected Mary Boleyn.

I saw the movie at the theater, then read the book.  Now I have the DVD and have watched the extended and deleted scenes.  They should have left them all in!  They woudl have added substance to a depleted storyline.  I like the movie but the script is weak.  With Henry running after Anne "Will you give yourself to me now?"  yuck.  Henry had way more dignity than that, he was a romantic at heart and loved the chase.  So much was lost in the not telling of this movie.

I finally rented this movie.  I have to say I'm glad I had a coupon for a free rental, because this would soooo not have been worth the four bucks otherwise.  Not only was the history horribly portrayed, but the movie itself was just plain bad.  I did think Scarlett Johanson was good in it, but Eric Bana was just annoying and one sided, and Natalie Portman was all wrong.  I've read all of Phillipa Gregory's books so far, but I think I'll just skip them from now on, if she approves of this tripe they call a movie.

Yes, I saw Elizabeth Boleyn (and Mary) in Anne of a Thousand Days, but this did flesh her out more. Was she even mentioned in Showtime's Tudors? But, back on topic, The Boleyn Inheritance is coming to the big screen next. The casting of Jane, Anne and "Kitty" should be (cringing) interesting.
