I thought the following information might be useful to those who haven't had much experience with computers and the internet. It’s just some frequently asked questions.

WHAT’S A THREAD?:

A thread is just the cyber name for a new message on the message boards.

HOW TO POST A REPLY ON THE MESSAGE BOARD:

When you first enter this site you are presented with the home page. On the left had panel you click on MESSAGE BOARDS. You will then be told that this site has more than one message board. Click on the message board you want (most people leave messages on the General Message Board). You will then see a list of discussions that are currently taking place. Click on a discussion topic. You will then see that discussion and the most recent replies to it. (See below for how to view all the replies in a discussion). If you want to add your own reply to the discussion just click ‘REPLY?at the top left hand corner of the message you are reading. You will then see a new box appear. Type your reply in this box and then click on ‘SEND?(top right). Your reply will be added to the discussion. Tip: If you are typing a long reply it is best to type the reply in a word processor programme like Microsoft Works, otherwise the reply you have just spent an hour typing might disappear into cyber space! (see below...how to cut and paste)

HOW TO VIEW ALL THE REPLIES IN A DISCUSSION:

To view all the replies to a discussion follow the instructions above then when you have the chosen discussion in front of you click on ‘FIRST?which is on the left hand side, directly under the very first message of the discussion. This allows you to view ALL the replies to that discussion.

HOW TO COPY AND PASTE TEXT:

Assuming you have typed your discussion reply in a word processor programme. Place you cursor (the little blinking line) at the beginning of your text. Click the left hand mouse button and keep your finger on it.....now while you have your finger on the mouse button.....run it over the text.....the text will turn blue. When you have covered all the text you want to copy release the mouse button. Place your mouse over the BLUE text and press the RIGHT mouse button, a little menu will appear....choose “COPY?by left clicking it....now the text is copied. Go to the message board......find the discussion you want to reply to and click on “REPLY?..the box will appear. You will notice at the top of the box a little icon that looks like a suitcase......left click it. Your text appears in the box.....click send and it’s done.

HOW TO SAVE PICTURES:

When you see a picture you would like to save to your own computer.

Place your mouse in the centre of the picture and RIGHT click.....a little menu appears.......choose “Save Picture As?....another box appears. On the top of the box you will see a little bar with the name of the folder you are going to save this picture to. It is best to save the picture in “My Pictures?then you know exactly where they are. To find “My Pictures?on your computer......click the little arrow at the right had side of the bar......choose “My Documents?from the list.....then choose “My Pictures? Look at the bottom of the box now.......this is where you name your file (e.g. If your saving a picture of flowers.....name it Flowers 1). Now click on the little “Save?button and it’s done. You have just saved a picture to your computer. Well Done!

HOW TO INSERT PICTURES IN YOUR MESSAGES:

When you’re in the reply box from the message board. Look at the top where the little icons are. You will see a little icon that looks like a postcard with a stamp on. Left click it......this opens another box. At the top of the box click on “My Computer? You will notice that the box now has a little bar on the right hand side with a little button beside it which says “BROWSE?..click it....this opens another box....go to the top of that box and click the little arrow next to the bar......choose “My Documents?then “My Pictures? Find your picture and click it once.....it will be surrounded in blue......now click the little button at the bottom right hand side “OPEN?.....this will take you back to the first box. At the top of this box click “ADD PHOTO?....wait for a few moments and the picture will appear in the reply box.......when you have finished typing your reply click “SEND?......your message will be sent to the message board complete with picture. Now give yourself a pat on the back, you deserve it!

I know these instructions may seem quite difficult at first but it really is like riding a bike....once you do it a few times there is no stopping you.
