The Cancer Helpline
This telephone service provides accurate, easily understood information in a sympathetic and sensitive manner which enables callers to talk openly and in complete confidence about their concerns and anxieties about cancer. We also provide information about the facilities available locally for cancer patients and their families, but do not provide diagnosis or recommendations for the treatment of individual cases. A wide range of information leaflets is available on request. The Helpline deals with over 1, 500 calls every year and the specially trained Cancer Information Officers, who deal with the calls, are all experienced nurses with special cancer expertise.
