Conversations with God started when the author in the midst of a frustrating low-point in his life wrote a letter to God and was replied to. The book takes the format of the author questioning and God answering him. The theme that runs continually through the book is to remember our divine origins. Walsch's book makes God accessible in an almost secular way, different to our Bible-based one. An immediate, humorous, "guy next door kinda God" reminding us of basic truths. The book is written for Westerners and is practical and daily-life oriented, with answers on sexuality, money, relationships and health amongst many others. Conversations with God has the potential to reprogramme you to see the divine and spirituality in a totally new light.

The question to be asked is "is this really God?" and indeed Walsch asks it and is replied: "What difference does it make? Even if everything I've said is 'wrong', can you think of a better way to live?" "No" replies Walsch and if you are searching for spiritual answers and have not found your traditional distant God helpful, then this book could be for you. --Peter Lloyd

My wonderful friends, my dear fellow travelers?/EM>

Please stop and consider for a moment the most important questions of your life.

Why are you here?

What, exactly, are you doing on the planet?

What is the purpose of your life-and who decided this for you?

I am asking you to consider these questions now because your answers to them could change the world. Indeed, they could save it.

I am not certain how much longer we can continue along our present path on the Earth, but I do know that it is not forever. We cannot continue to use up our resources the way we are using them, we cannot continue to despoil our environment the way we are despoiling it, and we cannot continue to abuse the dignity of the majority of our people the way we are abusing it without paying a very heavy price. That price could even our own extinction.

What I also know is that all of the world's problems, all of its difficulties and challenges, could be resolved with the application of the simplest spiritual principles. These principles can be found in the literature of all of the world's spiritual traditions.

I never cease to be amazed at how few people actually ever ask themselves these questions. Indeed, it has been my observation that most people never ask them. Of the billions and billions of human beings now on the planet, I think that only the tiniest percentage has even considered these inquiries, much less come up with response to them.

And that is why the world is in the shape that it's in.

If we all knew Who We Really Are, and then applied that knowledge and that understanding to the way in which we live our lives, our lives would be lived in an entirely different way. Gone would be conflict, gone would be upset, gone would be worry, gone would be injury, one to the other. Gone would be most illness; gone would be the vast, vast, vast majority of premature death due to disease. Gone would be deprivation and hunger, loss of human dignity and the anger that goes with it.

Indeed, gone would be most of the unpleasantness of the human experience. In fact, with the absolute application of the spiritual principles in CWG, gone would be ALL of the unpleasantness.

How is this possible? What kind of magic elixir is found in the highest spiritual truths? Ah, that is what one discovers by exploring those truths. And there is no better day to start than Today, no better time to begin than Right Now.

If you believe that you have no time, you are wrong. It only appears that you have no time, because you are wasting your time trying to satisfy your five senses. Spiritual truth is a truth that is not associated with your five senses. That is why many people have called it nonsensical. But, while it IS "non-sense," it is not ridiculous.

The truth is, we have spent far too much time and devoted far too many resources and hurt far too many people and damaged far too much of our environment and killed far too many of our brothers and sisters trying to satisfy the hunger of our five senses.

It is now time to go beyond the limited perceptions of the Prior Human and move into the larger perceptions of the New Human - the human of tomorrow.

This human is a human that we can create today. It is not some kind of superhuman being understandable only in terms of science fiction. It is a realistic dream, an achievable goal, a reachable destiny.

I have not reached this stage. That is my confession to you. I am on my way there, and I intend to arrive. That is my commitment to you.

Will you join me? Will you help me as we work together to seek a newer world?

I hope you will say yes.

With love and blessing.
Neale Donald Walsch
