The Pot of Gold
The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow
never really existed,
for it is only an illusion created from the ego
designed to distract us from the true beauty
of its magnificent colors and rich hues
that lie right in front of us
The pot of gold....
I wonder who came up with that
and if it ever really existed
please forgive me
if I seem to have lost my belief in fairy tales
I guess I am just waking up to reality
I know a man
and he reminds me of a rainbow
out of reach but not out of sight
You can chase him with all your might
in hopes of getting a closer view
and then you discover
you are exactly where you started from
and the rainbow is still far from you
As for the pot of gold
well thats farther that the eyes can see
because the true gift anyone can ever give you
does not lay hidden beneath the surface
its not found in a bank or in a wallet or in the value of a dollar bill
that is only material things
and when we die, none of that matters
The true gift that anyone can ever offer you
is a life lesson, learning or teaching
something for you to help you grow and learn
and become the best person that you could possibly be
to learn about values and morals and boundaries and
to learn more about yourself and what you feel you deserve
What you will tolerate and what does not serve you
What I believe now
is that we don't need to search for gold
for is it not something to be found or discovered
the true value is in appreciating the beauty
of what is right here and now
and to let go of expectations of what might be
the true beauty is in the present moment
and its the journey that really matters in the end
and life experiences are truly the pot of gold in the end!!
