My little cat, Wili isn't doing very well at all.

He's been on thyroid medicine for some time and we've been working on stabilizing his kidneys. Looks like things might be starting to shut down :(

Ironically he was at the vet for his check-up a few days ago, and has really gone downhill since.

He's never been a good eater and consequently very thin. We finally discovered that he'll eat pureed food, so he was doing very well on that for a few weeks.

However, the last few days it's been a real struggle to get him to eat. Even his thyroid med which is in kibble form and he thinks it's a treat, he wouldn't go for.

He's been sleeping most of the last couple of days and we've been worrying a great deal. Just now he was incontinent so we feel the end is near.

He's had a SUPER good life (14 years) and he's been a fantastic little cat - a real character! Hubby calls him "maaaama's boy" :] I'm not taking it so well :(

If everything had been more stable, I might have held a morsel of hope that he'd hang in for a while longer and maybe bounce back a bit, but this incontinence thing has me very worried.

Hoping for a spontaneous recovery....

Prayers were sent even though I didn't post (had trouble getting my posts to go through).

I hope that no matter what is happening or has happened, you are ok and am sending you prayers now as well!

Love and Light,
Louellen

Thank you Louellen, for your prayers! I'm sure they helped!!

Wili is still with us! He was really out of it on that weekend, sleeping most of the time. We took him to the vet first thing, and she gave him some sub-Q fluids and a tablet to encourage his appetite (he's NEVER had much of an appetite, and over the weekend he basically ate nothing). By the time I got him home, he was on the rebound!!

We have to go on giving him the fluids at home ever few days. Thank GOODNESS I'm not squeemish! Even so, it's been very frustrating (I'll spare you the details in case anyone here IS squeemish...not that there's anything bad...just concerns re the possibility) and I broke down one night when we were doing it. Wili's handling it better than I am! We got off to a bad start with an unreadable fluids sac so we didn't know how much we'd given him. Turns out over twice as much!! Thankfully it's just fluids and electrolytes.

He's really almost back to "normal" except "normal" is defined by the fact that we think the Pod People took him and left us this replacement!! LOL! He's got some of his old behaviours back, but he's doing alot of other stuff, some of which is odd....but not entirely un-cat like! I guess a near-death experience can do things to a cat (??!) One good thing, he's got a terrific appetite now! I hope he'll finally gain some weight...he's always been a bag 'o bones.

So for the time being, it's status quo and we keep giving him the fluids. In the meantime, one of my little rat boyz is showing signs of hind-end weakness, common in older rats. He's 2-1/2 yrs, which is old age for a rat, sadly.

We have alot to learn from our sick animal kin, though....they sure go on like troopers. I notice the rats especially keep going on like nothing's up, even when they are really feeling the effects of old age.

Sending love and prayers for Wili. I know what you're going through. My dog Butch, was at death's door last summer, bones showing, crying in pain. Then, just over night, he got well again. He's a big dog, when he found us, he'd been horribly abused. He was skin and bones, literally. So, we got him healthy, but he has hip and elbow displasia. He's 6 now, and still a trooper. They, animals, can amaze you can't they? I'm so glad to hear that Wili is doing better. I hope that you are doing better too? Hang in. And just keep loving. That is all it takes. Just love.

Lisa

Good morning, Dreamed,

It has been awhile since we have written together so special greetings from beautiful Oregon.  I am glad to hear Wili is doing so much better and will be with you for a while longer.  I think sometimes animals are more naturally connected to healing than we are because they don't have the same thought processes blocking them.

I am sending continuing prayers of health, abundance and happiness for both Wili and Butch , two very special beings.

Have a lovely day,
searching
