I stumbled upon a site that talks about  Netiquette
It is really someone explaining the contents of their book, but even reading thewir site is a good guideline to how to work and use  internet discussion grops. Rules such as "Treat others the way you would like to be treated" and "Be forgiving of other peoples mistakes".

Ahhh the Golden Rule.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."   Yes indeed.  What a great rule for the internet, real life, day to day life, life with your friends, kids, relatives, and so on and so on.

It's not even that hard to practice.  I just never have gotten it when people are mean, and evil.  Would they like it if someone was mean and evil to them?  No.  So why do they do it to others?  Because they can.  Right.  I "understand" that, but I don't "truly understand" that.  I don't truly understand it at all and I don't guess I ever will.

I remember when I was a kid, about 9 years old, and I was at a scouting thing, and I did something really bad.  I offered the "Scout handshake" to another kid, and when he offered it back, I hit him in the stomach.  Why?  Why did I do that?

I think I saw something like it on TV or read something like it or something.  I'm not sure.  But I felt sooooo BAD.  I mean i hit him in the solar plexus.  It was a perfect shot.  Dang I felt bad.

I felt even worse when a woman who saw me do it came over and read me the riot act.  And I'm glad she did it.   For that's a lesson that's stayed with me for almost 50 years.  "Don't do mean things to others."

You know, since then, I've never done another mean thing like that?  Never.  Not ever.

Oh, well there was that time in the 7th grade I pulled a chair out from behind Johnny Schneider when he was going to sit down, but he had put bubble gum in my baseball cap and I had it all in my hair.  That was payback.

But there is evil.  You see it everywhere.  You see it every day.  For what ever reasons, people behave is all sorts of strange, and weird ways, and not the way they would have others treat them at all.  Go figure.

Love and hugs to all of you.

Dan

This is a bit from  the site  The Core Rules of Netiquette,

 which.are excerpted from the book,

 The Core Rules of Netiquette

Netiquette  by Virginia Shea.

Click on each rule for elaboration.

Introduction

Rule 1: Remember the Human

Rule 2: Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life

Rule 3: Know where you are in cyberspace
